Door Handle swap? (eliminate keyhole)

I dont even own a fit yet, but I am already thinking that the keyhole on the driver's door needs to go.

Yea, yea, if you battery dies you are screwed, I know.

BUT, I was wondering if a driver's side rear door handle can be put on the driver's side front to get rid of the keyhole. Anyone know if they are interchangeable?
I would think you could keep the stock lock/latch there, and just replace the part you physically lift up.

What do you think?

Talking about a GE8 if you didn't pick up on that by where this is posted.

I think it might work... but also maybe not, I know that the JDM Honda door handle covers (which actually is for the part under the handle the door handle well/bowl area where your fingers go) are labeled for LF, LR, RF, and RR, leading me to believe they might be different sizes....

I'm interested in this as well, I don't like the keyhole either..

Check out Bumperplugs.com . They have an insert that would match our color and can be put in and it looks pretty flush. A lot cheaper and easier to remove if need be.

Yea, I saw that, but I think they looks kinda ghetto.
Replacing the door handle wouldn't be expensive, and it would look stock, where as the plug looks like I plugged it, lol.

Worst case scenario, is that I will it with epoxy the hole, sand it down and have my buddy paint it.

Do they not have the keyhole?
My brother lives in new zealand, maybe he can get one for me.

I was thinking of the keyhole plug also but since I'd be able to see it, it would annoy me.
Epoxy or Bondo, and new paint would look flush, and factory, but it's not easily reversible, and the keyhole hasn't bothered me that much.

That's a good idea if you can get it from New Zealand, let us know I might be interested depending on the price of the door handle.

The cool thing is that the handle has a hole in it and the lock is underneath. So if you got just the handle part you could keep the lock and, depending on the angle, you could still use the lock when lifting on the handle to get it out of the way (also depends on if you can physically turn the lock with the handle lifted, which on some locks you can't).

i looked at Bernardi's site and the parts numbers are the same for
the right side of the car.
so this means the left side is the same thing. all you have to do is get
72180-TK6-A11ZD $40 and your all set.
just make sure you change the last 2 digits on the end for the color
of your car. the one posted is for SSM.

awesome. thanks.
I figure when I get my fit I will just try to put the rear handle on the front to double check fitment.

These would work, I test fit one from my S2000 into my Fit and it would work. It might need to have a longer insertion blade to fully seat. Color matching would be up to you unless this vendor would consider painting them if he had a large enough order, i.e. group buy.

Picture of these covers installed, due to the deeper inset key hole of the Fit, the insertion blade might have to be longer.

Well... I just went to try to see if it could be used by lifting the handle. It doesn't work. I wasn't even able to insert the key as the handle doesn't lift up enough for clearance.

I figured you would need a spare key, and cut the handle part off, so it is basically just straight. That might work. It would just be to get in the car in an emergency.

very nice!
Looks MUCH cleaner.
It is one of those mods that people will know it looks cleaner, but no one will know why.
I love the subtle details.

BTW- How much was the new handle, and where did you get it?

It was like $50 at my local honda dealer (got it the next day), I've seen it for $40ish online though.
