Talking Mugen Wheels for 09 Fit

Hey fellow Fit lovers I just bought a Fit Sport MT in Tidewater Blue and I couldn't be happier. I traded in a 1996 Miata for it so I'm used to having a small car with lots of endearing character. While the Fit is nowhere near as sporty as the Miata it does have just as much personality. I love it.

I am thinking about purchasing the Mugen rims for my Fit but noticed that they require the purchase of a different size tire than stock (205/50 R16 87W). I was wondering if anyone has done this and, if so, how does the new wheel and tire combination effect the ride and mpg of your Fit. thanks for the info!

sorry for not answering the question of the TS... i changed wheels too but maintained it at 16. i got the same tire specs too. it seems heavier because my over-all tires/rims are bigger than the stock ones. not much effect on my FC. the ride... got a bit bumpier. roads here in my country sucks big time though.

yes they will fit...thought I would actually answer the question instead of telling you some other wheels to get

Do you have pics? They look wonderful on the FITs through google images, but I'm sure fitfreak members can take some better shots! IMO, style-wise they're the best looking rims for the GE.

Do you have a SSM or white fit?

Are these the Mugen XJ wheels you're eyeing? Those should be forged, and as such they should still be pretty light. If you're obsessed with reducing unsprung weight (i.e. weight of wheels, tires, brakes), you'll want to look for a 205/50R16 tire that isn't too heavy. TireRack.com should have a listing of tire weights.

Keeping unsprung weight down will help with fuel consumption as well as acceleration and braking.

As for the ride...well it'll depend on how bad the road acne is where you are. Bigger wheels = worse ride is the conventional wisdom, but it can depend on what tire you use.
