I did look up car etching, and what I found were often FREE offers to etch the VIN on windows or on the catalytic converter. I didn't find anything about wheels being etched.
The free offers were through city police departments and AAA, etc. And some places had laws on the catalytic converters that required ID and auto license plate number and a hold on the release of funds for payments. That is effective on cutting back on the theft of catalytic converters.
And etching on windows, that's fine for chop shops that are reselling the parts, and can't resell the windows. Obviously people can check into the VIN to see if it was stolen or totalled.
But nothing about wheel theft or etching. I might not have used the right keywords. Has anyone had WHEEL etching done?
Sorry to hear that your wheels got ripped off - it is unfortunate but very common. Hope you can get something nice and hope those wheel locks
will keep them safe.
probably just another owner that did what I did. i drove my fit home and less than an hour later the stock wheels were off and on went my Volks. If anyone is interested in some sport wheels with about 55 km's on them then pm me
Honda should have security built-in into TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System). When tires were removed and far from the car, it should trigger the alarm. It might be a simple solution.

Just another idea.
Yeah, that's sort of what I said. On the previous page.
Maybe we should all get black wheels and cover them with black grease.
So then the thieves will get really greasy and dirty.
$500 per wheel!? That's nuts. They aren't that good looking. Buy some real nice aftermatkets that look twice as good and cost $300 less per wheel. (Oh, buy some good wheel locks)
They're not exactly fancy wheels. Looks like they're just painted in flat grey paint... Certainly not the brushed aluminum look that my last Honda had.
Sorry to hear about your wheels. I wondered who would want the stock sport wheels as well. Then the other day i was getting gas and this beat up old CRX pulls in w/ a fresh set of 09 Fit Sport rims.... About the only thing that car had going for it where those rims..the car was beat up. Gotta wonder

I have data dots protection on my vehicle as a dealer pre-installed option, and all parts of my car has a data dots id # and vin # etched into everything that is only viewable under a 30x magnifier; meaning all major components of my car are tracable. If my car was to ever be stolen and unrecovered I would get a check from data dots and the dealer itself totalling $5000 in my pocket ontop of insurance payout.
