Fit Ergonomic FAILURE (Inside Line)

Well, the canny staff at Inside Line found a major ergonomic failure with our cars: the odo reset/light dimmer switch is hard to access.

What kills me is this: "Hondas are usually ergonomic successes -- the various controls are usually intuitive in operation and right about where you'd expect them to be. The trip computer in our Fit, however, doesn't follow that design dictum."

I know that this feature--which I use on a daily if not hourly basis--is critical to my enjoyment of the car and my overall perception of the Fit's ergonomics. I don't care how easy the HVAC controls or shifter are to use, if I can't reset my odo every mile.

No doubt the Euro Fiesta has one that falls readily to hand and is shaped like a small breast.

LOL! They should have a steering-wheel mounted reset button! Get with the program Honda!

Actually, I find that the order of operations on the screen actually is backwards - you reach the trip odometer first and then the trip MPG. So if I want to see what the computer thought the MPG was after filling up, I have to go to the trip MPG and then cycle all the way back to the trip odo....or I'll forget and reset the trip odo before checking the MPG. EPIC FAIL!

its very sad. some folks have nothing better to do. granted the folks at insideline are paid to be picky, and thus feed internet car brand specific elitists ammo for arguments.

its still very silly though. of all the things to complain about in life....

I have had my Fit for almost a year now and I haven't even felt the need to reset the odometer yet.

Now that's funny right there. I can't believe they devoted an entire article to that. Honda put the trip re-set where it's been since the begining of time. The only thing I had trouble with was the dimmer for the instrument lights. Had to look it up in the manual and felt dumb for not figureing it out. I use that button a lot and wouldn't want it anywhere else.

Good Buddha, I can't believe this crap.

Ok people, stick your right arm through the steering wheel, you can even rest your arm on the wheel and column AND THEN push the effing button. C'mon!

BTW...I use mine EVERYDAY and have NEVER had a problem or worry about it.

I wish it had more trip computer functions--miles to empty, for example--and I wish you could cycle through them by tapping the turn signal. But I'm not willing to trade it for a BMW just to get those features. I'd settle for being able to reset the average mpg while the average mpg is on the display, rather than having to reset from the trip odometer only.

I wish it had a function besides "oil life" that didn't show the klugey instant mpg guage. It would be annoying if it were accurate, as it is it's a waste of dash space and a distraction.
