Spare Tire Question

Hi, I am a potential Fit owner, looking at a 09 Fit Sport.

I've been trying to find out what the deal with the spare tire is. I've seen reviews that says Honda did away with the spare tire to make more room for the "magic seats", but i've also read elsewhere that there is a spare tire included...so my question is... for US owners....

Is there a spare tire there or not?!?

- Thanks.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that there is a spare tire in the 2009 USDM Fit.

Automatic transmission equipped Canadian models do away with the spare and provide a tire repair kit instead. Manual trans Canadian models and all US models come with a spare.

That's weird. I wonder why they chose to do it that way.

Fuel economy.

It doesn't make much sense to me. There are some very remote areas in Canada with some rough roads that could rip a tire to shreds. Not a good place to be without a spare especially with our harsh winters. Some areas don't even have cell service.

Does anyone here have an automatic with a spare. I remember reading the Autos did away with the spare to save weight.
