Exclamation 2010 Fit Automatic Transmission Flush Question

I am new to driving an automatic. The last vehicle I had that was an automatic was a 1999 Ford Ranger. Yea. He will be missed. But! I would like to do a Transmission flush but before going under there, what do I need? I know the tube, funnel, ATF, but do I need a Transmission Filter? I needed one for the truck but im not fimilar with this? I had 3 Civics, all manuals and that was so EASY to do the flush! How difficult is it to flush this? Also I heard only 50% or so of the fluid gets drained, how could I get it close to empty so I got a full flush.

Yeah only about 1/2 of the tranny fluid comes out. I did mine a couple times on my 07, but i'm sure it's the same transmission and process. There is no tranny filter accessible without cracking the transmission. Also, the tranny comes with a stock magnetic drain plug.

1) Locate the drain plug under the car. It's not a bolt, but the end of a socket. If i remember it's a 1/2" bolt. When you get under there, u'll see what I mean.
2) remove dipstick to let air in while the drain is happening.
3) drains out about 3 quarts. IF you want to remove the rest of the oil, you can turn on your car while the drain bolt is removed, but THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED BECAUSE YOU COULD ACCIDENTALLY DRAIN ALL THE FLUID AND DAMAGE YOUR CAR!! I did this method but i only removed one extra quart and left the rest in there.
4) replace drain plug. Locate the fill plug. It's a big 22mm or so bolt on the top of the transmission, right under the throttle body. You will have to remove your intake.

5) Refill what you removed. Done I change mine every 30k miles.

I do indeed see an inline filter on the schematics on one of the atf cooler lines. My 2005 I4 accord had one too, but I haven't verified it on my fit yet (it's buried under the factory air box i think)

I do a drain and fill, drive to mix, and repeat. This gives a 75% change. Good enough for me. The 2007 Honda Fit factory service manual calls for a single drain and fill not a flush.

You will have to remove your intake.
not really, i refilled through the dip stick opening with a proper funnel ...

of course, this was after i removed the intake - i did clean the throttle body blade with the intake out so it was not a total waste of effort ...

BTW, the ATF fill screw (under the throttle body) is a 17mm not a 22mm ... and the drain plug is removed with a 3/8" drive not a 1/2" drive ... come to think of it, this little instruction contains a lot of misleading information, hence:

After changing out the fluid, have any of you seen the check engine light come on? Mine came on and I'm not sure why. I'm going to drive it around a bit to see if it goes off on its own. There aren't any codes showing on the dash. Any of you ever experience this sort of thing?

My 2010 fit has 32k miles. The FSM recommends the first change at 60k miles, local dealer recommends every 30k. My transmission seems to stall before engaging sometimes. I think I'll change it and go from there. Any one else with this issue? Can you refil thru the dipstick? Sure looks like it.

most likely you bumped something on the intake? Check everything.

Mine only has 6k miles but notice some odd cold behavior. Going to put some new stuff in mine by 12k just for grins.
