Dealer overfilled my engine with oil. What should I do?
I was lazy this time around and I just took my car for service. I checked my oil the next day (it was raining hard the day of service) and noticed it was overfilled. My guess, the techs got lazy and just filled it with 4 quarts (Honda specifies 3.8 qts). I know the dangers of oil overfills but 2/10 of a quart doesn't seem much, so I don't know if I should take it back to the dealer or just leave it be. I would drain it myself, but it's a matter of principle since I paid 43 dollars. FYI the oil is not frothy.

I don't think 2/10ths of a quart will hurt anything. Stupid dealers/oil change places....
On some cars that see high cornering forces (autocross, track use) overfilling by a half quart is actually beneficial...minimizes starvation when all the oil sloshes to one side of the pan.
You could probably reduce the amount of oil in the pan by 2/10ths qt, just by dumping out the oil in the filter....that way you can sleep at night.

we put in an extra quart of oil on our time attack car
You could always just leave it and startdriving more aggressively..? Haha
I wouldn't think it would hurt, but you could just empty the filter like previousely mentioned, although I am not sure if oil would start dumping out when you took it off? But yeah that would probably do it!

It's cool. Only 0.2 Quart extra won't do anything except maybe increase drag on the crank, unless you start blowing it out the dipstick hole under WOT..
And if you do spend alot of time at WOT, all that oil winds up in the head anyways, this is one way of keeping your pickup from starving and aerating.
So no biggie unless you start smokin!

Well we all love our cars but don't think that's gonna hurt either. I overfilled my oil by tiny tiny bit a couple times before when I top it up during track days and my car drives fine still.
It's only gonna hurt if the guys double dip the thing(put in oil twice), and I've seen that happened. But if it's just a tiny bit over, I won't worry really.
