Anyone have elastic fall out of your door?

I'm dropping by Honda soon to have them look at it, but I'm curious if anyone has seen this fall out of their doors...

Hopefully, that's not what's holding the door together!! LOL

Seriously, if you find out what it is, let us know. I'm sure it's bound to happen to others.....

That could possibly be the 'gasket' material used to seal the door panel to the door frame. Is lower part of panel loose? It should not simply 'fall out'.

it's not a rubbery material so i doubt it's a gasket of any sort. it's pretty much this elastic covered in a layer of fabric. kinda like those hair tie things for the ladies.

This came up in the forums a couple of years back. Turns out there's some sort of dangling tag attached to the driver door on all fits from the factory that is supposed to be removed by the dealer when they do all of their other pre-sale prep work. I can't remember what the tag said, but it was probably something like "remove before sale". Seriously. Just pull the string.

It is an elastic for protective plastic on the driver side door to protect door panel before delivery. I removed it myself when I took delivery of my car.

Yup, what he said. I had some of this sticking out the side of my door. Pulled it out as far as I could and cut it off with no ill effects.

I dropped by the dealer and they had no idea. They theorized that maybe a balloon was attached to the car as some kind of promotion. If you're right then they don't know their own products very well. Not reassuring.

I had some on my Fit too - just elastic that held something protective on the car in its journey from Japan.
