Keyless Entry problem base fit

I have a base fit and just bought a remote fob off eBay...

Attempted to program several times using this procedure.

Remote buttons light up but car doesnt respond at all.

I took a look at the ebay remote fob and it seems to be generic the transmitter inside has no information on it and the case only has HLIK-1T on the back?

The only other modes Ive done that might affect it is the DLR fuse removal, that shouldnt effect it Id think.

Any ideas guys Im lost on this and dont have alot of time to keep playing with it.

Should I try a new battery?

PROGRAMMING THE REMOTE TRANSMITTER (KEYFOB):

NOTE: It is important to maintain the time limits between the steps. Make sure the doors, the hood and the hatch are closed.

1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II)
2. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock button.
3. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.

4. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON (II).
5. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock button.
6. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.

7. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON (II).
8. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock button.
9. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.

10. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON (II).
11. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock button.
12. Confirm you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators within 1 to 4 seconds, then push the transmitter lock button again, or the code will not be stored.

13. Within 10 seconds, press the transmitter lock button on any other fob you wish to program. Confirm that you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators after each transmitter code is stored.

14. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and remove the key.

15. Confirm proper operation with the transmitters.

Assuming you do in fact have a compatible remote...

When I programmed mine, I found it best to do the sequence faster rather than slower; even though I was cycling through at under the 4-second upper limit the programming didn't take until I was down to about a half-second for each step:

Ignition on - push remote - ignition off - pause
Ignition on - push remote - ignition off - pause
Ignition on - push remote - ignition off - pause

Then:
Ignition on - push remote - wait to hear the locks click - push remote again.

Give that a try...
