USB Dongle for Radio

Hey guys whats up? So I'm rocking my 09 Fit sport and I want to use my stock radio w USB connection to stream music from my iPhone using Bluetooth. Has anyone tried this or had any success with it? I'm not looking to tear apart the radio, I just want to plug in a usb device in the upper glove box rather than my iPhone and allow it to become bluetooth'd for the ride.

Thoughts or ideas on the subject? I have seen some threads about plugging something int the aux port (lame) or putting in a different radio unit.

The USB connection on the Fit's stock radio isn't like a USB connection on a computer. It doesn't have the driver software necessary to interface with a bluetooth dongle. The Fit's primitive USB module only talks to file systems stored on a USB drive or to iThingies.

Maybe someone makes a smart USB bluetooth dongle/access-point that emulates a wired usb connection, but I doubt it. googling it didn't come up with anything.

Any elegant solution would mean changing the radio for one with bluetooth built in.

Will the dongle work with Android phone? If not can it still be used as a charger?

The Fit's USB connection might work with an Android phone as far as accessing file content (but I doubt it). Maybe someone has one that's tried it...

But yes, it'll charge anything (that's a standard USB function).

Yeah Im surprised that no one makes a smart USB Bluetooth dongle for cars or other devices. If they did it would easily make the radio "bluetooth" for at least music.

I have a iphone 5s and I'll open pandora or iTunes Radio start playing it and using the USB , hook it up. It's not streaming via bluetooth but you get song titles and can skip music. It's better than streaming I believe quality wise and it charges your phone. I agree the cord is a little annoying but it doesn't bother me too much.
