violent 1 to 2 shift
#4
I'll get back with you later after I do a few hard shifts. VSA off I'm assuming? I have only ran it to redline a few times but I shifted pretty fast so I don't remember honestly if it was rough though.

Mine is fine.
I have filled all 3 mounts. Little bit of vibration at idle, but WAY better shifting experience, and it feels much more "crisp" driving, and during downshifts where I blip the throttle to match rpms.
It is a simple and very rewarding modification. I spent maybe 4 hours overall doing all 3 at various times. Spent roughly $45 overall on a good hotglue gun and a big bag of 1/2 inch gluesticks

for a violent shift? gear ratio wont have any effect on how the shift itself feels.
its almost always either an interior transmission issue or mounts.

I can shift from 1st at redline into 4th and not have an abrupt shift.
That is a pretty massive ratio difference.
Like I said, as long as your shifting is not crude as all hell, you should not feel a big lurch unless interior tranny problems (like bearing slop) or mounts are worn out.

shots fired
What do you mean violent though? I don't get the issue.
When I shift 1-2-3 RPM always lands at 5k despite what i've seen said on here about dipping to 4.5k or whatever. Ratios are fine.

The fit is like no other stick shift the delay and almost pillow like clutch pedal I drive my fit pretty aggressive from dead stops I will get the rpms up 2k 3k let the clutch out get a tiny roll easing into to avoid excess wheelspin once that clutch grabs then it's throttle pinned get like 3 or 4 little tire chirps love first gear goes by real quick hit the sweet spot on the rev chirp into 2nd got the clutch delay down takes practice to me 2nd and 3rd are the best gears love 3rd when vtec hits my fav then 4th and 5th come and ruin the fun economy gears all this talk I'm gonna go drive maybe I'll find a new 2015 fit and stalk it lol

Hah hah! Happy you never saw me try to do that. If I decided to practice, the next stop would be to ask Joe Honda to install a new clutch or worse.
Cheers.

I'm coming from driving an AWD vehicle, but I know that I chriped going into 2nd the first couple times I drove her. It's quite possibly that you're just not used ot the ridiculously short and crip clutch. I find that compared to other vehicles (I've driven a TON of sticks) the fit has a crisp exact clutch, not neccesarily a smooth one.
Make sense?

13fit, good point.
The point of my original post was to note an observation about the 1 to 2 shift. Driving the Fit around town is perfectly fine. But shifting the Fit down the quarter is characteristically different than say my former EVO (or any of my former sticks for that matter). Was just wondering if anyone else noticed.

Fair point - I think what I'm feeling is possibly the same thing or at least something similar. I honestly just attested it to being the first time I've driven a front wheel drive vehicle hard in a long while. I've always owned Subarus before this little hatch

motor mount movement + FWD + non performance clutch + CDV = weird.
I tested this AM vs. a Audi A6 turbo wagon (I think it was even chipped by the sound) and was thoroughly demolished but the 1-2 still chirped
*no speed limits were broken (60mph limit on expressway from stoplight) disclaimer
