Bow & Stern tie down spots for kayak?
I was wonder what spot people are using to tie-off the (Bow and Stern) after placing the kayak on the roof (Yakima j-cradles). I purchased the "under hood" straps for the front tie-off spot but not sure where to secure in the rear under the bumper since it's all plastic. I have a 2013 Fit Sport

There isn't really a great spot. The common options seem to be securing it to the roof rack itself (not ideal, but better than nothing), using the tow hook (not very good as it's quite off center), and installing a trailer hitch and rigging something up to it (IMHO the best option, but kind of expensive and a lot of work if that's all you're using it for).
I suppose one could modify the hatch to add an anchor point, presumably tying it more or less directly into the latch plate area for strength, but that would be time consuming, ugly, and probably prone to leaks. I don't think I've heard of anybody actually doing that.
