Problems caused by aftermarket 12V USB adapters?
Hi, I'm new to this forum. I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem: The TPMS dashboard light in my 2010 Fit Sport is on, but the mechanic can't find anything wrong with the sensors. He noticed that I keep a USB adapter in the 12v charger and told me that aftermarket adapters have been known to interfere with the dashboard warning indicators, causing them to light up when nothing is actually wrong. Has anyone else experienced problems caused by aftermarket adapters? (I know I can use the USB jack in the glove box, but sometimes I need to charge more than one device.)

I call shenanigans! The only problem i've ran into with aftermarket usb cigarette adapters is not enough juice to some devices. anyway, take out the usb adapter. run the car. i bet you'll still have the same problem.

my car has some generic dual charge usb adapter almost all the time in the power socket.
no issue.
why not just yank that thing off and drive it around for a few days?
if no tmps, then drive with the usb adapter and see if the error lamp comes on.
your transmitter inside your wheel might be faulty or low on battery..

Most tire shops have devices which can query the TPMS sensors to see if they're sending out a good signal. They should be able to quickly tell you which, if any, sensor has gone south for the winter.
I had one go out 2 months after the car's warranty expired. Dealer wanted to charge me to diagnose. Local branch of a chain tire store identified which wheel had gone bad at no charge.
Tire shops can also replace a bad sensor and reprogram the TPMS system to use the replacement; usually at less cost than the stealership.
