Our reliability stats for the Fit now include owner experiences through March 31, 2014, making them nearly a year ahead of other sources.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2013 Fit: 4, low
2012 Fit: 3, low
2011 Fit: 5, low
2010 Fit: 14, low
2009 Fit: 13, low

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2012 Fit: 96, < 1
2011 Fit: 94, < 1
2010 Fit: 87, < 1
2009 Fit: 89, < 1

For the first time I've noticed for any car, every single model year of the Fit is "full happy" on our scale.

Thank you, once again, everyone who has been helping. Next update in August.

New stuff this time. We've updated our reliability stats for the Fit to include owner experiences through the end of 2014. Plus we've added reliability trends graphs. These indicate how a model's reliability has changed as it has aged, and how different model years performed when the same age.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2013 Fit: 0, low
2012 Fit: 3, low
2011 Fit: 7, low
2010 Fit: 11, low
2009 Fit: 15, low

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 Fit: 100, < 1
2012 Fit: 97, < 1
2011 Fit: 92, < 1
2010 Fit: 90, < 1
2009 Fit: 84, < 1

We'll have further updates in May and in August. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.

To view the new graphs, select "reliability trends" in the breadcrumbs at the top of the linked page. The trend lines are especially flat for the Fit.

Perfect reliability here. 101,000 miles!

I just had my first honda checkup... at 100,000 miles. Negligent?... Well yes, I'd admit to that.. I was also on my original clutch and brakes too. The dealer said my back brakes are fine and only my front need to be replaced (though there was still some life in them). I also avoid the 5w-20 oil recommended too. The only 5w-20 oil this car has seen was from the original factory fill. Outside of north america I repeatedly read that Honda recommends heavier oil for this engine. I've used only 5w-30 in the artic-cold Minnesota winters, and 10w-30 in summer without any negative results. I have changed oil, air and cabin filters frequently, and even repalced a windshield (from a rock hitting it). My engine PURRS! i get 35 mpg or better consistantly, and my car is still quite fun to drive. There are a few rock chips in the paint. And only 1 headlight bulb has burnt out in it's 100,000 miles.
You can say I'm happy with the high reliability and it's still a fun car to drive. The shifter still is tight and a joy to use. I regularily take my 09 Fit across the rockies to visit relatives. I reported to the Honda dealer that the car has repeatedly seen 42 MPG in the mountains on straight 85 octaine. The dealer stated that it's probably because they don't add ethanol to the gas in the mountains and thus the mileage increases because the ethanol burns up so quickly in our Minnesota gasoline. My dealer also stated the rear struts are leaking, but not the front. There hasn't been any negative handling effects, so I decided to postpone replacing them.

In short, this car is incredibly reliable and to me, that's the biggest luxury of all.

You've been changing the oil, filters, etc. and have probably kept a close eye on the car, so I'm not seeing any negligence here myself. Happy to hear it's been so reliable--not that this is unusual for a Fit.

What do you mean by "negative results"?
Do you mean that it hasn't blown up or did you actually measure the wear on the crank bearing, piston pins, rings, etc?

Perhaps you've worn your engine twice as much as the ones that used the recommended oil viscosity, especially in the cold climate.

I don't know much about oil myself. But it's discussed intensively over at bobistheoilguy.com

So, how have these cars been doing lately?

Our reliability stats for the Fit now include owner experiences through March 31, 2015. (Others are nearly a year behind.)

In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year ("low" is best):

2013 Fit: 2, low
2012 Fit: 5, low
2011 Fit: 4, low
2010 Fit: 8, low
2009 Fit: 17, low

Plus, the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 Fit: 98, < 1
2012 Fit: 97, < 1
2011 Fit: 96, < 1
2010 Fit: 94, < 1
2009 Fit: 85, < 1

Additional participants always helpful. Next updates in August and November.

Repair trips per 100 cars:

2013 Fit: 4, low
2012 Fit: 8, low
2011 Fit: 4, low
2010 Fit: 8, low
2009 Fit: 15, low

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 Fit: 95, < 1
2012 Fit: 94, < 1
2011 Fit: 96, < 1
2010 Fit: 94, < 1
2009 Fit: 85, < 1

Additional participants always helpful.

Guys,

could your report be any more confusing to interpret???

I hope you are doing better job collecting the actual data.

Actually, it's really clear. For example:

2011 Fit: 92, < 1
2010 Fit: 85, < 1

For an '11 there is a 92% chance of no repairs, and less than 1% required 3+ visits.

For a '10 there is an 85% chance of no repairs, and less than 1% required 3+ visits.

Super simple!

SoCal, thanks for putting that more clearly.

In the cases of < 1, we actually had zero such cars, but I assume there must be at least one lemon out there somewhere.

We've updated our reliability stats for the Fit to include owner experiences through June 30, 2016. Reliability information elsewhere is based on a survey conducted in April 2015--well over a year ago.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year (lower is better):

2013 Fit: 14, low
2012 Fit: 11, low
2011 Fit: 23, low
2010 Fit: 18, low
2009 Fit: 14, low

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 Fit: 90, < 1
2012 Fit: 90, < 1
2011 Fit: 79, < 1
2010 Fit: 83, < 1
2009 Fit: 88, < 1

We'll have further updates in November and next February. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.

I signed up today, I did a motor swap on my car last month because I got the car with a spun bearing how would I note that, would you want me to wait till I open the engine to register so the fault can be determined at the same time?
