I am an OLD Fit fanatic and even older Honda Lover. Currently own 7 of them including 2 Fits,,,2007 Sport and 2009 Sport. yes I trick them out Lowering, Exhaust, Guages, and Cold Air.
What I would like to start up is a discussion on whether or not anyone or everyone thinks like me; yes i know you are young and i am old but,,,Listen:
I think Fit should be a whole like of cars like the civic, and have more than one model.
I believe a:
4 door sedan
2 door hatch
2 door hatch si with 1600 cc Ivtec 150 hp.
Fit Hybrid
Fit electric2 door hatch
And perhaps an Acura Model with a 1600 cc turbo.
An I getting old, or would anyone buy the smaller, like a 1990 civic line of cars?

well considering that acura is now going for a new higher class approach (no more rsx if you saw) i dont think you will be seeing anything like this car be produced... ever...
I do understand the types though. Me being an owner of a 90 crx, in the us there were 3 different models. the Fit in the US also has 3. but none of them with a different motor... which we all know sucks...
I do believe honda should have made an SI version of this car... it would have gotten alot more sales... and all they had to do is throw the new civic 1.8 140 hp motor in there... that would be an awesome ride. that + the paddle shifters..?!?! that would be so great. and on top of that a sun roof. that would be a great Fit.

Different era. Back in the civic era, there was no 350z, rx-8, miata, etc.
It is really silly to do much mod to the Fit and make it into a racer. There are actually some good youtube videos of japanese trying to do it. The performance really sucked.. You can't really get around the fact the the Fit is a FWD car. The honda engineers recognized this, and did a very good job of designing.
Its absolutely redicious that there are cars out there with 2.0+ litre engines running FWD.
actually the Miata was the death of the civic CRX era... After 1991 the Miata came into view hence the CRX Del Sol... and we all know who one that race
It is tough to have FWD and too much torque,,,but you go to a Touring car race and you can see RSX against rwd and Four WD, and if set up properly,,they do quite well and they are running 2.4 liters and some mods that take HP over 200 at the wheels.
There are a ton of cars out there with bigger than 2.0 liter and fwd,,,Our own Honda Accord, and Acura TL come to mind. Altima 3.5?
The poin of the message was that if we ever get smart and stop Driving two ton plus cars and trucks,,,you kno,,,for the environment and because Oil is a limited resourse??

Well yes, but hybrid is not the solution either. Hybrid adds material, weight, and an extra motor. It defeats the purpose of a Fit.
When Honda comes out with a 100% electric carbon fiber car, the design will have to totally change. They are going to have to put foils on it just to keep it on the ground.
Hey, if we are going to have a Fit Si, make mine with 4 doors. I love the idea of a Fit Si. Probably be the only way to get me out of my 09 GE8. I like to see a 6-speed auto/smg along with 17" wheels, fat sticky tires, lower springs, heavy duty sway bars, something like the Civic Si interior treatment and special colors.

Weight of Motor for Hybrid is not the problem. Weight for batteries and some supporting components are. After Driving my 2009 Fit with the MPG Guage, you can really see where Hybrid comes into play. Any tip into the throttle puts MPG down to 18-20 mpg. Then after up to speed 40 mpg.
The torque from the electric motor which is max at zero rpm is the secret.

100% electric is a much better solution. carbon composite car, 4 electric motors (awd), 1 battery, 1 seat. No petrol engine, no gas tank, no exhaust, no radiator, no catalytic converters, no ugly gas stations.
You get Mp and all the Torque you want (not that you would need any).
