Transmission Oil Change

I would like to know the torque specifications for the manual transmission oil drain and refill plugs on the 2009 Fit Base. Thank you.

I'm going to bump this...

what mileage should I change this out at? Can i refill with mobil 1?

I assume the process is take out drain, take out fill, once trans oil stops draining, replace drain plug, pour in trans oil through fill port and keep going till it levels off?

The process is to take out the fill bolt first then the drain bolt, because if you manage to take off the drain bolt and not the fill bolt you sir are screwed...

Then put the drain bolt back in, fill it up until it just starts to drain out of the fill hole, then you pt the fill bolt back in and you are done

Can anyone post a picture showing where the drain plug on the automatic transmission is located for a 2009? The service manual is worthless in this regard.

Should be marked in blue and be a 3/8" square input I believe.

You can fill the transmission through the dipstick hole. It's easier than the fill hole. I think a drain and fill is about 2.5 quarts.

There is no dipstick on the manual trans, only automatics. I don't know the exact capacity off the top of my head, but it's definitely less than 2 qts. I also suggest Honda's own MTF fluid.

Manual says 1.6 Qts. However, just fill it until it runs out of the fill hole and then let it dribble to a stop. Make sure the car is level.

automatic transmission oil change

It took 2.7 quarts exactly to refill after draining. I am wondering how many times doing a partial oil change will be ok. I assume there is some sort of filter inside that needs replacing

I think he's talking about A/T, since I recall mention of "partial" drain/fill in other threads related to the A/T.

Ya, I would have to assume the partial comes into play since you can't get all the fluid out on an AT. The torque converter likes to hold a lot of it.

Owner's Manual says first transmission fluid change at 60k then every 30k after that. (Maintenance Minder #3)
