Check engine light P0302 flashed

Yesterday morning was slightly below freezing I've stated the car (09 Fit Sport, AT, USA) and scrapped some of the ice from windows - check engine light came on. I checked the code and it appeared to be misfire in one of the cylinders. I did drove about two maybe 4 miles the light disappeared - likely I did check the code before it vanished (I did not clear the code), the code was P0302 - misfire cyl#2.
All fluids are OK and everything was working normally. No knocking sounds. It seems to me that in the morning I turned the ignition on very quickly basically inserting the key and turning on almost at the same time (no time in II position) so I was guessing that maybe the fuel did not pumped yet or some of the valves did not work timely that caused misfire during the start, It also does take about a second for engine immobilizer system to "authorize the fuel pump to work".
The car did started quickly with no problems.

Everything works fine- light did not came back on.
Right now it's impossible to trouble shoot what might went wrong.
Does anybody experienced anything like it? Any thoughts of that it might be?
Anybody had a strange cylinder misfire? P0300,P0301,P0302,P0303,P0304?

Even the best engines occasionally misfire. With cold weather, I suspect you had one tiny misfire ... but it cleared out, so I wouldn't worry.

If it keeps illuminating the Check Engine icon, I'd have Honda check it out. But I really doubt you'll see that light again for a while.

I was curious (check links for answers):

how it detects misfire,

and what causes misfire.

How many miles you have on it?

If pulling the plugs were easy I'd do that and inspect for uneven wear. It's not easy on Fits. Ignoring it until it happens again is probably the best advice. When it happens again, a warranty trip, trip to your favorite mechanic, or some shady-tree mechanic (yourself?) would be in order. I'd tend to suspect a coil pack.

Thanks for quick replies!
I will update you if the light will show up again.

I was going to go to Honda dealership but the light went off too quickly.

The car has about 15000 miles (over a bit more then two years) and had half tank of gas full (or empty), and... it's tide-water blue, not sure if it that helps.

sorry if this post is useless I was just wondering if that is something common

thank you, nice articles about misfire

Low miles. If it happens again I'd visit the dealer under warranty. Even if the light goes out it should retain the code(s) in memory for a couple hundred miles.

Check engine light 09 Sport Auto

My daughters light came on yesterday. Left at dealer this morning. Was told codes showed 1 miss fire cyl 1 , 3 miss fires cyl 2 and 8 miss fires cyl 3. They ordered a coil pack and will call when it arrives. Service writer did ask if she got gas recently which she hadn't.Her Fit has 27K miles on it. I almost forgot when tech went to move car after write up the light was out. They got the codes in history. She gets gas at Shell, Sunoco, Mobil, Stop&Shop. The car runs fine and I will update after coil pack.

Check engine light 09 Sport Auto

Coil pack was installed yesterday under warranty. All is well will let you know if there are any issues down the road. They did this because there were 8 miss fires in number 3 cylinder.

Thumbs up Check engine light 09 Sport Auto

Because there were only 1 and 2 misses they weren't concerned. I think they did OK by me. They could have just cleared the codes and said lets see if it comes back. Two thumbs up for Weymouth Honda

Quick update:
It's been almost 4 years since the miss-fire.
I did not have any misfires or any work done on the car.
No problems at all.

It's great that this worked for you for such a good length of time. This makes me more confident when the problem occurs with my cars.
