disabling DVD HU safety feature Pioneer

First, need to know how to connect green wire from HU to E-brake, next, how do I disable this DVD feature so my passengers can watch while I'm driving ?

OK ICE gurus, need help...

It's not as easy as grounding the parking brake wire like in my car. You need a toggle switch or relay.

You don't connect that green wire to the parking brake at all.

I have a normally closed momentary sw wired up but you can use any SPST rocker or toggle sw and flick it on/off.

i don't know exactly what you mean by this

this is one of many different styles of SPST switches. connect the green wire to one terminal and connect another wire to the other terminal then ground it to the chassis (the car... like on a bolt or something).

this is what i have gathered.. someone correct me if i am wrong

green wire needs to go to ground. but you put a switch in series as to simulate the e-brake.

dont watch dvd's while driving. it's already bad enough as it is with people on their
celphones..

Ok, if I understand you right, connect e-brake wire that comes from the HU to one side of the swicth, then connect a wire from other side of switch to ground like a bolt or something on the car ? Is this correct ?

Ok, got a swicth installed and works great. Question, does it make a much difference the amps the swicth is rated at ? The one I got was 14amps

14x12= 168watts. i dont think you're going to need any more than 0.5A.

I ended up installing a pioneer avh-p3100 and got the metra dash and wire harness kit , but anyway it has that same safety feature so I have to get a switch too but my question is, is there a specific rating that we have to get ? Like it has a certain amount of amps it can handle according to a certain amount of voltage so is there a range in which we have to choose wisely or anyone will do? I'm not sure if I'm worrying to much on the technical side but all I need is a switch to act like the ebrake so any Info would be great ! I ended up getting a spst switch for an automobile anyway but got a 25 amp for 12v rating so hopefully I should be ok !!

Another ?, do u guys suggest running a in-line fuse for the power wire connecting to the switch? Or is that unecessary ?

25A is more than okay, i think. you dont think that thin green wire's going to carry that much load...it'll become a fuse of its own.

no need for a fuse. i didnt use one.
