Anyway... don't want to take away from this epic thread. Congrats on the rear axle, and post up pics of the install.

oh no,
it cannot be bypassed because otherwise you will need
a meter long brake hose from the connection before the rear axle bolt
up to the rear disk brake.

right now, from the front master brake cylinder they use small metal pipe
up to before rear axle bolt.
since the axle move up and down they need rubber hose that is flexible.
after that rubber hose they again use solid pipe to connect to
rear drum brake.
so if you buy the kit with the mounting bracket you will need a male to male adaptor which you then connect to another short brake line (maybe 30cm long) and this connect to rear brake caliper.

yes, if you want you can order a long brake hose to connect from
before rear axle up to rear caliper directly but it is going to be more expensive because it should be about at least 1 meter long each side, so 2 meter both side.

and you will waste the steel pipe hose fitting that is already there that used to connect to the drum brake.

Today, I make my first mistake...

I decided to take out the caliper (in preparation to paint it as soon as my paint bought from Amazon arrive),
and the rubber hose (so I can install a ss brake line later),
and then wash my rear axle.
so later I can see if there any scratch on the rear axle and I will paint it to make sure
it will not rust later.

problem is when I try to take out the rubber brake hose, I don't have the correct flared wrench, and I don't know that you had to use this kind of wrench.
so I just used regular open wrench and I end up stripping all the nut...
some of them are so bad, I just cut the steel brake pipe to take it out...
I will post pictures later...
now, I got to order the replacement steel brake pipe from Japan .... oh well...

In the past, I had change several stainless steel brake line on European Car, and I don't recall that
I need to use special flared wrenches... (but this was like almost 20 years ago hahaha)...

and when I change ss brake lines on motorcycles, I never need this flared wrench because with motorcycles is all banjo bolt and we can use socket wrenches...

oh well, another lesson learned today...

I am lucky that the steel pipe that I broke were only the 2 short one on the rear axle
and not the long one from the front of the master cylinder to the rear axle...

Bring your JDM lines to the car parts store, they can match the connectors adn you can buy a cheap pipe bender for brake lines and a few feet of brake line ALL this for less then $40

screw ordering expensive pre-bent parts. DIY!!

I see how your rotor is after viewing this thread. I will see what I can come up with, as I am going to the junkyard in the morning (its nearly 1:30 am)

If we dont find the motor and tranny we are looking for, perhaps I will grab a few rotors as I am eventually going rear disc, but I think I am going to match front and back from an older integra or civic for teh sake of huge aftermarket fitment and kits available

actually the price for the 2 brake pipe from Honda in Japan is only around $18 USD !!!
yes they are very cheap,
and maybe with shipping they will cost me around $40...
so I am lucky that they are cheap...

It's look like some kind of Vehicle Height sensor ???

hmmm, perhaps the JDM car had self leveling headlights???

VSA system?

I don't think so,
Why VSA system need to know the height of the car?
because on this sensor, one leg (the silver ball joint) is attached to the rear axle,
and I am pretty sure the other leg/bracket (the black plate one) will attached to the chassis.
so it should measure the movement of the rear axle (up down) relative to the chassis...

If I am not mistaken,
VSA means Vehicle Stability A, Right?
(I don't know what the A means hahaha)...
is A for assist ?

Great build going on BMW I will follow it for sure.I had my midlife crisis a while back with my 2011 Mustang 5.0

I went nuts and while it was a blast I sold it last year and got my Fit.
Did you win the Powerball lol or are you one of those Hedge fund guys loaded with moola

Good luck with the swap and thanks for sharing the progress with us.

Thanks Zilla8,
I wish I win the Powerball so I can complete all this upgrade faster
I plan to keep my (this) Honda Fit FOREVER, because this car has sentimental value for me and my family
that is why I try to do my best in modifying this car.

Do you have an oven where you can cure your parts?
Its been awhile since ive done it but I remember that this stuff is excellent on brake parts once you cure it.

If someone here interested in getting the JDM Disk Brake Rear Axle,

I can help,
There is one more complete JDM Rear Axle with disk brake in Japan.
Also victim of Fresh Water Flood
(I guess this must be the Thailand flood because the Tsunami is Salt Water Flood)...

just like mine, it is also in Brand New condition because taken from brand new car that had been victim of flood.

Ready to install, all you need is take out and install 4 bolts, install parking brake,
bleed the brake and you already get Rear Disk Brake.

Later, you can always sell your stock Drum Brake axle to recoup some cost.

The only think that you don't get is the Wheel Sensor, but
you can use your stock rear sensor since the one with this axle had been cut (wire) when they remove it from the car.

All parts are original Honda factory parts and original Honda factory design,
so this is real factory quality. What you get is New (Rear Axle, Rear Rotor, Rear Caliper, Brake Pads, All Brake hose and piping on the axle, Parking brake cabling)

No need to wait for a long time (1 week for shipment from Japan MAX),
no need for any fabrication,
no need to get rebuild/used parts for caliper/rotor,
brake bias is the same since this is factory design.

I can get this one for $1,500 including air freight (piggy backing on my friend air cargo) to my house
and all you need to do is just pick it up at my place, ...
(I paid much higher for mine due to me insisting on getting RS only axle, this one is NOT RS axle,
but other Fit model that have disk brake too, later I realized they are both the same thing,
but have different part number simply because different in rear spring rate!)

I can help you ship it to your location but I would prefer you to pick it up at my place,
or you can have Fedex/UPS pick it up at my place in Anaheim if you have your own Fedex/UPS account.

Hi,
Yes, I have an oven, but it is cooking oven,
and my wife NEVER used it for cooking but I once used it for painting
bracket for my Honda Accord Exhaust Tips mod with high temp paint

I just done some reading about VSA and from many literature and Honda Press Release/article, it seemed that the VSA run solely from input of
each wheel sensor but none mention about VSA connected with self leveling sensor...

I also think it is more accurate to measure the level of friction on rear wheel from wheel sensor than relying on the height position of the rear axle of the car, because sensor on wheel measure real time and dependent on road grip/surface type,...

or I do read/see something about active Aero,...
is this had something to do with that?
anybody know about active aero? is the bumper had aero/spoiler that
can be move with some kind of servo or motor?

I am just guessing though,... I still have no clue on what this sensor do...
but I just check again from the pictures of our car and our USDM car definitely do not have this sensor eventhough we have VSA...

what I am happy with VSA is now we don't need to have brake proportioning valve anymore on our car,
so if we change from rear drum to disk,
the car will automatically adjust the pressure going to EACH rear wheel based on the each wheel sensor input !

of course there is limit of what VSA can do,
if we put crazy big brake in the rear, it still will be bad for the car brake bias and will affect the handling...
hmmm
talking about correct brake bias,
I already had complete idea on what kind of custom rear big brake kit
that can balance the front big brake kit that I had in my mind
but that is going to wait a bit

as far as i know, the active aero refers to the front spoiler bumpers side LED lights.

Thanks for posting that ECU picture here

Hmmmm,,,...
Koito usually produced lighting/lamp related equipment...
so most likely this is for self leveling headlights... or that LED light...

but I think, given it's price,
that there is no way a Honda Fit,
even RS model had a fancy self leveling active suspension hahaha
