This is caused due to not having the car aligned after the camber bolts were installed most likely.

What is wearing out your tires is the toe!

My S2000 has 2.5 all the way around and I rag the shit out of the car and tires last about 8,000 to 10,000.

hey beng, I think you should be fine, but u're cutting it close. ppl have mounted 17 by 7.5 wih 42 or 43 offset with no rubbing problems. It also depends on the tires you're putting on. Some tires are wider and more reinforced than others even with the same spec.
You also have to consider the weight of the wheels. That is i think by far more important than rubbing, because you can always put in a camber kit. Do not put on wheels that are 19 pounds or heavier. Your fuel efficiency will suffer and so will your acceleration and braking. Acceleration when you are rolling will be noticeably compromised if your wheels are too heavy as our cars do not have the torgue for it.
A good thing is the stock 16s are quite heavy, so I think you should choose wheels that do not exceed the weight of the stockers.
Lastly, keep in mind that more mass that is at the perimeter of the wheel the harder it is to keep it spinning, ie the more power needed. More mass will be towards the perimeter of a 17" rim compared to a 15" tire, hence even if they weight the same, it will be harder to get the 17" rim rolling.

I am toying with the idea of Gram Lights 17 x 7.5 (17.8 Lbs) with either a 205/40 x 17 or 205/45 x 17.

Given that the diameter of 205/40 x 17 is about .5" less than the OEM tires, it should help reduce the possibility of tire rubbing however, it will increase the fender-to-tire gap.

Tire Rack recommends 205/45 x 17 which is closest to overall diameter of the OEM tire and some guys in the forum have even installed 215/40 x 17.

Logically, 17 x 7 +43 offset Enkei RPF1 (weighing only 14.6 Lbs) is the wheel to get, but the design is a bit dated.

To be honest, I did get an alignment after I installed my springs last fall, but did not think that changing out the strut bolts would affect the toe, only the camber, so didn't go back for a new alignment.

I have to believe the my soft Blizzak's survived 3,000+ miles between November and March because I was driving on cold or frozen surfaces.

Consider this, too: I have a Taffeta White Fit, and I've wondered the past three months what the hell is up with this fine pitch black dust that's always on the lower sides and rear area of the car. It's not normal road grime/dust/dirt - and I now wonder if it's been my tires disintegrating.

So the question of the day is: if I stick with the wheels and try a set of P215/40's, do you think I'll be OK with the 2.50 degrees camber (and a professional alignment?) And when I take it to the alignment shop, would you advise I instruct them to set the camber even right & left, but to NOT set the camber to factory spec?

Good luck getting a 16" tire on a 17" wheel. Did you intend to type 205/50/R17?

If you have an 09 with 205/50x17 tires on 42 mm offset and lowered I have doubts you will not have interference. I'm certain on an 08.
The 09 here didn't fit without rubbing on bumps.

1). AME Tracer 16"/7JJ/ 4 x 100/ offset 42
2). Dunlop Direzza 16"/7JJ/4 x 100/offset 43
Both rims use Dunlop RE001 205/50/16

Yes, the stock 09 Fit wheel is 53 mm offset.

I want your guys opinion im going for a flush look. im looking at a pair of 16x7 +33 offset and 16x8 +33 rear offset? will i rub too much or will this be the flush look i want. Does anyone have similar specs doesnt have to be staggerd please let me know. thanks

Since the minimum offset is 42 mm your 33 offset will rub like crazy unless you have really narrow and short tires.

Think I found some wheels that might work! I plan on either running some t1-r s coil lowering springs or an eibach pro kit! So the drop will be between 1.2-1.6 front and 1.4 in the rear! I want 17"s but if I have to settle for 16" i'm ok with that. The specs on the wheels are as follows: 17x7 +45mm or +48mm, 16x7 +45mm both wheels have a 75mm bore diameter. I was thinking about running 205/45/17 or 205/50/16! Could I run a wider tire then the ones I listed?

I jumped the gun and had these rims installed. No rubbing at all, but then again I'm the only one riding the car. I use our CR-V when my family is with me.




ADR Propulsion. I got them rims and tires for just $475 via Craiglist and they're brand new. Former owner had to get rid of it 'cause he sold his Civic and bought a BMW.
