Buyers of 09 Fit Sports need to know that aftermarket 16x7 or 17x7 wheels with the necessary offset - 45-50 mm - are not yet available. Or at least I couldn't find one. The 08 Fit wheel specs do not apply.
The wheels on the 09 are 53 mm offset and are much closer to the fender arch than the 08's thanks to the wider axle (resulting in the wider track). It looks like 16x7 or 17x7 wheels on the Fit Sport will require 50 mm offset at least to avoid interference.
We still have not gotten an 09 in to measure with wheel gages but a ruler to an installed wheel pretty well identifies that prior wheel setups won't work.
205 width tires will probably still work because they are smaller in diameter than the stock tires 185/55x16. For now you only have the choice of those tires on stock 16x6 wheels.
cheers.

Fit users here in Japan are using 17x7.5 45mm ET without any clearance issues.. I think that anything outside a 40mm ET and you`ll be asking for trouble..

I actually might try a set of work wheels with a +25 offset this weekend for fun. If they actually fit I'll be buying them as the person wants $450 for them with brand new tires. You can make anything fit if you're willing.

exactly, who runs factory offsets anyways? They are always sunken in too far. i plan to run a 16x7 +40 with 205's, might require a fender roll, but that's what its all about.
its only .512" difference

SSR makes the VF1R in a 17 x 7.5 +55mm offset in 4x100. This will be tough to find alot of options for this application.
That should be a good wheel but don't know who's got them. Does the wheel/tire clear inside on turns? The back space is 5.9" compared to stock 5.06". The front push is 1.59 compared to 0.84" which is good.
Thanks for the info.
i'm gonna stand by an earlier post and say i don't think there's anything wrong or ugly about the stock wheels. if you want to be unique powder coat 'em, but i'd def. keep those originals.

Actually its a little over an inch (7-(3.5+1.57)) = 1.92" vs (6-(3+2.16)) = 0.84") and 205's are .2" wider outside the tread corner. If those fit there will be large collective sigh of relief from a lot of us.
The backspace will reduce from 5.16" to 5.07" but that's not a problem for the wheels bearings.
I was talking about the differences in offset mainly 53-40 = 13mm 13mm translates roughly to .51222229
I know there is more to making the wheel fit than just offset though. Thanks for the additional info.
Interesting to see someone else out there who sees steel as practical. I mounted my 175-65 winter tires on a pair of saturn rims 14x5",57mmCB similar offset to stock. and a pair of geo storm rims 14x6" with 1" reduced offset. I hope I don't find a "Fit" problem with the fender come November.

JDM...
We got our hands on an 09 and we could not mount a 205/40x17 tire on a 17x7/42 mm offset wheel without 'sticking out' from the fender. The 17x7/42 wheel/tire is pushed out only an inch from stock and that ended up outside the fender. Only a stiff suspension or fender flare would have allowed the fitment. A 17x7.5/45 wheel would be pushed out 1.15".
Since the 205/40x17, 205/45x16, and 195/55x15 tires are all pretty close to the same diameter and work well on the 08's (and 09's too giving a little better gearing), we think that the 17x7.5 wheel with 45 mm offset wouldn't work here even with the 205 tires which are half-inch smaller diameter without a stiff suspension or fender flares.
Do you know what tires they were using with the 17x7.5/45 wheel? Or is the Fit track/chassis different in Japan?
Thanks.
You`ll be fine one the car is lowered a bit... camber will come into play then.. 1~2 deg is what will be required.. for the front.... now as for the rear you should have plent of room.... as for the tires most of the guys run over here anywhere from a 185/35/17 to a 205/40/17...... and the wheel track is the same he in Japan as it is on the USDM specs..
if you have take a few pic`s.... I might be able to help out some more after I see what your working with..
