Tire recommendations for wet rainy weather in Florida

A couple years ago I was the passenger in a car that hydroplaned on I-95 and all I can say is it could've turned out really, really bad.

Was just told I need new tires by my mechanic and as you can see my main concern is buying tires that will handle well in the rain especially in the Florida summer months. My driving habits are careful - I drive slowly in the rain anyways, but I still want good tires.

I own a 2009 Honda Fit Base model so I'll be sticking with the stock size 175/65/15.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

General Altimax RT43 H rated . Have those on the '13 FIT . Can likely purchase them for less than $60 each with rebate . There's a rebate of $70 . Go to the General tire website for details , Anywhere is Possible | General Tire . Keep the tires at 34 > 36 p.s.i..

Thanks, I opted for those. Will update with how the tires work for me, in case anyone happens to stumble on this thread.

Just got them today at $365 (mount/balance). About the same price if I had chosen to wait for the rebate from General.

The ride is smooth and quiet in dry weather, thanks for the recommendation.

It hasn't rained yet here in South Florida but I will update my post with how they handle.

I'm using 35 as well.
I will write back when it rains, should be less than a week here.

Rained a couple days ago, and the new tires are doing excellent. Great traction, great buy as all-season tires as it doesn't snow here, only sun/rain.

While I don't do more than 20mph in heavy rain, I was going max 35mph on wet pavement, just as the rain disappeared. I'm a bit too cautious though.

If you'd like to know anything else, let me know.
Everyone else is free to post on this thread if they have more questions about the General Altimax RT43 tires.
