This was the one thing that I forgot to measure while I was installing. However, from looking at the parts the height seems the same. The feel is a little different, it sits forward verses lower. Nevertheless, the throws are more than an inch shorter (with stock knob). Shortening the shaft is mostly aesthetic. T1R did a great job of engineering a product that is functional and completes it's task in the proper way (Rather than taking stock design and chopping the top off).
