Front license plate bracket...

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone tell me how the front license plate bracket is mounted to the 2015's please? Are holes drilled into the front of the bumper or is the bracket mounted from underneath like the 2nd Gens?

Thanks much in advance!

My front bracket is mounted by 3 bolts. Two go into the top of the lower plastic grill the third goes right in the middle of the front bumper. I took it apart last week to see how it went on. It sucks that Honda did this. I wanted to take the stock one off and get the one that mounts to the front tow hook. But if you take the stock front off there is a hole right in the middle of the front bumper.

Hi Shiba...thanks much for the confirmation. It does suck that Honda has done it this way instead of from the underside. Oh well, I am sure I will still love the car as much my 2011 fit anyways!

Thanks again...

That's weird, Shiba. When I bought mine, the dealer had already put a front plate bracket on, but he assured me that there were only holes drilled in the underside, and sure enough they were right. They took it off before I even got there, and no holes in the front of the bumper. Sounds like your dealer fucked up.

the front plate frame is a plastic piece held by 3 screw
two on the grill area
one in the middle of the bumper
so 99% it's been drilled thru

i just picked up a new fit yesterday and took off the bracket and went to lowes and bought a gromet plug
sorry about the horrible pic

going to get some white touch up paint to later

I also have a hole in my New Fit

Fantastic

Center screw in license plate holder goes all the way through the bumper.

and it was done by the Dealership not Honda.

Picture of my Fit arriving at the Dealership:

Notice no front license holder and no hole.

Wow - that sucks. I looked online and if you look the part number up it does show a Diagram of the bumper - based on the diagram it looks like the plate should be in the grill area - but with only the one screw... However, after looking at my front plate frame it doesn't look like it could be installed within the grill without some spacers or special mounting material. Fortunately, Florida doesn't require a front plate so my Dealer did not install it.

Ok - after looking closer -- It appears that the two brackets on the bottom of the lower license plate frame will screw into the very top row of the black grill. In fact, my top row of the grill rack has two holes that line up with the plate frame. I suspect the hole in the middle does not need to be used. Sorry it won't help those who already have the hole - but hopefully will help those who have yet to mount one.

that's correct however the frame require 3 holes
it's unlikely the dealer doesn't drill the hole that goes on center of the bumper.

lower two hole is near top of the grille area you can barely see it.

So it sounds like I put my plate holder on upside down, with the two screws holding the plate holder at the top, opposite of y'all's. It seemed flimsy to me, is this incorrect? Plate holder only came with two screws, not three, and no center hole in bumper or plate holder.

Yeah, I feel dumb. There were only two screws included, so it seemed correct. It sits against the black grill part and is a few inches lower. I guess I'll take it to the dealer when I get my a-pillars inspected.

Edit: I can also see where the center hole would be drilled in the plate holder, it's like an indention in the center of the holder.

you know what i went to test out if the front plate mount can be installed up side down
and what do you know it works it sits perfectly in the grill area.
yes it's a bit flimsy due to the plastic.
but i flipped it upside down and used 2 bolt looks much better than what was done before.

Haha thanks for the validation! The plate holder is curved and rests against the curve of the grill, but it is a bit flimsy. Maybe I'll just leave it, but it's kind of low visibility I suppose. Funny stuff.

Is there some sort of plug that can be purchased to plug up the hole? I know Honda sold some official parts for that very thing on my S2000.

Better hardware stores sell hole plugs in plastic and in chrome plated steel. I'd get one of these and paint it to match the body, using touch-up paint.

Unfortunately, here in NY, only Corvette and Dodge Challenger drivers seem to be able to get away without running a front license plate. I'd like to know how they do it.

I hate to post so late after you already ordered a kit but I've been trying to get my posts up so I can create a post in the FS section and make my plate mount kit available to anyone that wants it. I'd be willing to give it away for nothing but shipping from 72065 here in Arkansas. I hate front plates and they're not required here. Luckily my dealer didn't install it and just left the kit in the car.
