Hey guys. I'm planning to do a projector retrofit to my Fit soon (Red EX 6-speed) and was wanting some opinions on some LED options. I was looking at JDMToy and they had a couple of cool options for the Fit around the fog lights (not sure which one I like better). These are the first two options.

Third option (discovered today) is from The Retrofit Source. They have XB LED strips that are half the price of the others, and I can mount them wherever I want. I was thinking of getting the 18" strips and mounting them along the lower part of the headlight assembly. It would follow the curve, but the 6" is too short for just the low/high beam area. Any other suggestions on where I could mount them? They would be just as a DRL that would turn off when I turned on my headlights.

My first option for custom LED strips would go from the inside edge of the turn signal and end up right at the outside edge of the headlight reflector (where it turns upward).


Second option (came up with on the fly, didn't measure it out at all) would basically be a C-shape with an extended bottom leg:


And in case anybody else has some creative and classy ideas for this, here's a base pic of my car for you to have fun with. Maybe somebody else will have a steadier hand and make some better lines. Fire away!

 

There is a bevel or edge inside the headlights around the bottom and sides. To me it seams like the natural location for LED accents. I don't know what it measures out to. Maybe it isn't a convenient length.


Did you end up adding any? I would be interested in seeing how they came out.

 

Somebody I had talked to locally suggested that one too, and I was leaning towards that setup. I'm not sure how far back I would go, but definitely the inside and bottom of that piece. I haven't gotten around to it yet (had some financial things come up) but I am hoping that it'll be a good winter project.

 

how are the XB LED strips installed? Do you take apart the headlight assembly and put them inside or are they simply adhered to the outside?

 

I feel like they are intended to be installed inside the headlight assembly. It's not too difficult to do once they are off the car (heat in oven for 10 minutes, cut adhesive, remove face, apply new adhesive and reverse process).
