Honda Fit Manual Transmission average Fuel Economy poll
2015+ Honda Fit Manual Transmission average Fuel Economy poll
There are 3 different Fuel economy Polls.
One for all manual transmission Fits EX or LX
One for EX and EX- L CVT Fits
One for LX CVT Fits
PLEASE vote only in the poll appropriate to your model and transmission.
Please vote only after you have put at least 1000 miles on your car and have an average based on at least 3 fill ups. Do not post your best tank or your worst tank, but your overall average.
Let's see whether the EPA estimates accurately predict real world fuel economy.
Will the LX CVT get better fuel economy than the EX and EX-Ls?
Will the CVT Fits get better fuel economy than the manual transmission cars?
This poll will tell, but only if people post accurate numbers based on multiple tankfuls and manual calculation (miles driven divided by fuel used)
Those with fuel economy of more than 42MPG or less than 32MPG please make a post below with your actual fuel economy and an reason for your good/bad fuel economy.
NOTE ON CALCULATING AVERAGE FUEL ECONOMY
1. Fill car up with fuel and write down odometer reading or reset trip odometer
2. Drive car at least 1000 miles and keep track of number of gallons of fuel purchased at each fill up
3. Fill car up again and calculate total miles driven and the divide by all the fuel you put into the car.
DO NOT use car's computer calculated fuel economy reading
DO NOT take 3 different fill ups and average

Interesting that the Manual is getting 22% of its voters with 40+mpg and the CVT is getting 33% over 40 mpg. Yet when you look at 38+ the manual has 66% of voters and the CVT has only 53%

I don't know what "average" is. If I say "city driving", is it New York City driving or much less congested city driving that has much less lights and stop and goes?
What's "mixed"? Is it the same amount of miles roughly on highway compared to city, or is it I drive 15 minutes city and 15 minutes hwy, so I'm actually doing more miles on the hwy?
All I can say is if I stick to my "city" driving that is not as bad as NY City, then I get about 32. If just hwy, I get in the high 40s doing 65/70 mph.

Fuelly has me at 32.8 after 3 fill ups and 834 miles. I've been driving it like its a Corvette though... I'm usually above 75 on the highway with the AC on 2, for 50 miles a day.

I totally believe what you're saying, but I question your trip computer. If your trip computer does prove to be correct, then I might as well start driving my Fit like it was a Corvette too. Then again, trip computers don't compute the cost of speeding tickets and raised insurance cost. https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/imag...ies/tongue.gif
If you mean the car's mpg computer, then yes that it is a little off. It usually has my average for the tank around 36-37.

I'm not sure I understand? The trip computer is fine. I'm getting about 280-290 out of each tank and it takes 8.5-ish gallons when I fill it. Rough math puts that around 33mpg. The more accurate numbers that I entered into Fuelly calculates 32.8mpg.

That's more what I meant by "like a Corvette." After the break in period, I started taking it through it's paces. You have to kind of push it to speed in it, or go down hill. All the roads I typically drive on are 55mph which is well within 6th gear range. It's new and loves to rev, so I have been gunning it up to 55 in 4th and then putting it in 6th to cruise. It's a habit that will eventually go away. I'm confident my average economy will increase as the weight of my foot decreases.

33MPG is quite low considering thaat on your 50 miles a day, you must drive at steady speed mostly and not always gun it around town. And up 55mph in 4th isn't really "pushing a car", I was gunning my Civic D16Y7 up to 65mph in 2nd gear all the time.

After two fill ups the trip computer tells me im at 40.3mpg. In reality im more around 39mpg. I do mostly highway for work, downshift a lot avoiding hard braking, and coasting where possible. So far im very satisfied with the mpg. I expect it will go down a bit once the colder weather gets here. Its expected for various reasons.
My 2011 I had a concistant 36-38mpg in the warmer months. During the colder winter months I saw my mpg drop to 33-34mpg tops. Likely this is due to poorer combustion of engines in cold weather, more idling to warm up, and additives added to the fuel for emissions purposes.
Cheers
