Adding a 12 Volt Power Outlet

Adding a 12 Volt Power Outlet
For some reason Honda places the dash mounted 12 Volt Power Outlet in the most undesirable locations.
On the 2009 CR-V it is near the floor and on the 2015 Fit it is right over the left cup holder.
In my 2015 Fit hooking up a Tom Tom GPS that has a traffic receiver in the power cord causes these problems:
The Power cord causes the left most cup holder to be unavailable, then I have to snake the cord out of the storage tray behind the cup holders and use window hanger suction cups to direct the cord away from the glove box and the 7" display unit.
I would like to add another 12 Volt Power Outlet somewhere to remove these problems.
This is what I would like to mount:

Has anyone found an area to mount one like this so that it is closer to the top vent.
Ideas are appreciated.
Thanks

However, it looks like this install takes up space on the right side, which would create the same problem you have with the power outlet on the left, blocking your drink holder.
You should send a PM to SilverEX15 for ideas, as he is heavily into adding things like what your looking for.

A possible workaround is if I can find a low profile 90 degree 12V Power Outlet adapter. With one of those I will direct the GPS power cable away from the drink holder and then have the wire run along the back and up the right side of the console using cable routing (velcro, sticky, black tie wrap).
Does such an item (low profile 90 degree 12V Power Outlet adapter) exist?
Also, does anyone have links for cable routing (velcro, sticky, black tie wrap).
Thanks

You could also try using one of the blank panels on the left side of the drivers area where the ECON button is located. I believe this is where SilverEX15 has done some of his installs. Plus, it puts it close to the interior fuse panel. The only issue is it may change the way you think about mounting your GPS. I have seen 90 degree adapters but most of them are not low profile and probably would not work given the clearance. Another option would be to find a splitter type 12 Cigarette adapter outlet. It basically is an adapter that plugs into a 12 Cigarette outlet and then has 2 or 3 dongles that have about 6-12 inches of cord that go to another cigarette adapter. This way you could get the clearance you need.
