I didn't notice before but the dealer left an advertisement on the hatchback paint. It's not a decal. It has thickness.

I had this happen a few years back. I had specifically stated that I wanted no advertising or extra stuff on the vehicle. They, of course, tried to get away with adding paint preservative, fabric protectant, pin stripes, vin etching and the dealer sticker. I told them to remove all and they claimed it would damage the paint to do that. I gave them the option of removing, paying me $1000 per year to advertise their business or walking away from the deal. They magically removed the sticker and gave the remainder of the worthless crap for nothing.

Could be a plaque of some sort. Those things are stuck on with double-sided tape. Best way is too put a heat gun to it and it will loosen the adhesive on the tape backing. Gotta peel it slowly from one side and it should come off.

That said, you just bought the car and as hehn states, going back to the dealer, would be the best course of action.

Enjoy the drive!!!

This.

Although I do offer the sales guy the chance to pay me a $50/mo advertisement fee if he'd like to keep it on there. They never take me up on it

+1 for heat gun and would also suggest picking up some Goo Gone which helps for removing adhesive

I've never used a heat gun--a hair dryer is plenty. Waxed dental floss will cut through heated double-sided foam tape. Goo Gone will get what's left.

Hair dryer is definitely more available in homes than a heat gun!!! As well as floss. That, plus the Goo Gone, will make your paint spotless after removal.

Great shares fellows!!!

And be sure to use Goo Gone, not the similarly-named product that is often displayed near it which I won't name to avoid putting the wrong name in poople's memories. That product is a strong paint-remover made for removing graffiti!

Every time I get a car, I tell them to never keep any decals or stickers on the car. I'll take a license plate bracket and that's it. At least that's easier to remove lol.

Sometimes, if you catch it quick enough, you can just peel it off. We took ours off the night we took it home. My 2007 Honda Odyssey however has had it's dealer sticker on for 7 years, and feels baked on. I'm going to try the hair dryer on that one.

I scraped it off with my fingernails. A few of the letters came off easy. Most had to be scraped off the paint. I used a wet terrycloth and rubbed in different directions to remove the last glue residue. Now it's 100% clean.

Heat gun, a credit card, and 30 seconds. Goo-Gone afterward then Windex the Goo-Gone.

Mine was gaudy, a big Superman sticker, so I just pulled it off that night. It didn't have time to set up, since it came off the truck that morning.

I was told by a cop that even the name of a dealer can let a thief get a key made. They get the serial number off the dash, call the dealer and give a sob story. Sometimes it actually works, and they get a key.
