Front bumper sag

Front bumper sag
So, I noticed the other day that the seam between the front bumber assembly and the front part of the body of the car (near the wheel well) was no longer a tight line but had developed a small V shape of about a quarter inch wider than it should be at the top of the V. When I lifted up on the front bumber, the V shape closed up so obviously something has come loose. I took it to the dealer and their service mgr looked at it. He claimed that this was due to my having bottomed out the front of the car. He pointed to two small scrathed areas under the painted areas on either side of the black grille. Honestly, they were not deep scratches and I don't recall ever bottoming out and certainly not with any speed involved. But I've probably scraped the bottom a few times due to our steep driveway. I hate the dealership (only went there to try to get them to fix it under the warranty) so I'm taking it to my regular, honest and long-trusted mechanic next week. Anyone seen this with their Fit? I'm hoping that all that is needed for a fix is to tighten a few bolts...... Thanks.

sorry to hear about this. unfortunately the fix is not tightening a few bolts. the bumper is held in place by a bunch of bumper clips and tabs. check if any of them has been shorn off or if any of the tab clips has been bent.

I just recently took off my bumper to install LED daytime running lamps next to the fog lights and what I noticed was the bumper clips the plastic itself is too thin. Overtime gravity takes over and bends these clips to make the cover not fit tightly to the body.
There is one screw on each side that hold up the bumper but it seems to be insufficient to do its job. Not much can be done to fix this least from what I can tell.

Thanks bassguitarist1985. It just seems crazy that the whole assembly can come loose while the car, overall, has an excellent crash test rating. I'm hoping my mechanic, who's a bit of a wizard, can come up with a fix. If not, then I guess I'll just have to periodically replace the clips. I love my Blu-J, but sometimes, the cheapo stuff Honda did on the car make me a little crazy.

Rear bumper. inserts for clip strip to hold bumper to body. Rear bumper is much thicker while the front bumper is thinner and weaker

It's a known issue. Others have reported the same on this forum, and my front bumper has been like that since new. I chose to leave mine as is since it's not very bad; maybe your wizard mechanic can help you out on this one.

Based on how common this is on the 3rd gen Fit, it's pretty clear that the attachment design is not compatible with the weight of the cover it is trying to react. Anybody seen this on a 2016? Seems like the kind of issue they might have slip-streamed a fix for.

I'm also affected by the bumper misalignment, see this thread: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/3rd-...-warranty.html

Thanks to all for the comments. I'm resigned to just accepting that this is a cheapo thing Honda has done here. I'll ask my mechanic to look at it next time I bring the car in for service but I'm not going to make a special trip just for the bumper at this point. If and when my mechanic comes up with a fix, I'll post something.
