Odd cell phone issue...
So I just got a Moto X Pure (Android) and I've connected it through bluetooth to the Fit. When I get a text it notifies me. The weird thing is, when I send a text it notifies me that I got a text too. It says there is a text from my number immediately when I press send on the text message app. If I change it to not notify me when I receive a text, obviously it doesn't notify me when I send or receive a text.
On my previous cell phone Galaxy SII Skyrocket it worked as it should. Get a text, it notifies me. Send a text, no notification.
I've already removed the bluetooth connection on both the Honda and the phone and rebooted. Then reconnected and it behaves the same. The phone is running Android 5.1.1 and I'm using the built in Messenger app. I tried using the Hangouts app and merging SMS there, and it's the same behavior.
Everything else works. I can stream music through Pandora or Amazon Prime and I can make phone calls. Any insight would be appreciated.

I too have experienced this issue. I believe it is a flaw in the firmware code of the HU. This behavior is especially true with a chain text message with multiple recipients. If you are in the middle of writing a text but don't send immediately, the HU alerts you you got a text message from yourself, you click read and says it cannot retrieve the message.
the work around is to disable the head up prompt you have text messages and simply check the inbox of your txts via the HU manually, which can be done while driving. It will read them back as it normally would.

I borrowed my wife's galaxy s4 running 5.0.1 and it works fine. She's using the stock messaging app as well. I added the phone just like mine to the honda and I tried to compare settings but nothing jumped out as different. I turned off her Bluetooth and reconnected mine and it stops working as it should. I turn off mine and reconnect hers and back to working. Something screwy going on.
When hers connects to Bluetooth, it plays a musical tone. Mine does not.

Same issue for me on LG G3
My LG G3 with Lollipop 5.0.1 does the same thing. I am not impressed with the head unit in my EX and I'm not confident that it will be resolved any time soon (cue the Honda crickets).
