fred9000 :

The head unit of the Fit uses a special format for camera inputs. There may be other units made for Honda that would work. Using a Kenwood or Alpine double din unit in the dash is possible and has been done but you loose the camera function. Since aftermarket units have standard composite video input you can buy your own composite camera and mount it in the back to get that function back.

Sorry

When I was adding a backup cam to my 12 Civic about 4 years ago........ I remember reading something about the OE cameras using some non-standard voltage to operate, like 8v instead of 12v, which is why aftermarket backup cameras usually take power from the reverse lights while the original camera received its (8v?) power through the stock head unit (or IMID in my car).

The video signal should be standard, but it looks like your OE camera has 8 wires (7 plus a shield), the extra wires are probably to accommodate the available multiple views.

If you could figure out how to supply the camera with the correct voltage to operate, it may still work with your AM head unit but unless that unit will accommodate multiple signals you'd probably have to pick one 'view' and live with it (or use a separate switcher?).

Otherwise, I think I gave under $15 for my backup camera assembly (came with license lights for my Civic application) from Alibaba, and its cameras dimensions were pretty similar to the stock cameras I have seen.
My only gripe is my aftermarket cam has its own 'guidelines' built in to the signal and I can't change that.

build a voltage regulator circuit to run the stock camera at 8v? (need to verify that's the actual operating voltage by testing using the stock head unit first)

That's cool that USA version can only buy a aftermarket stern and mounted. Mex fit doesn't have it so you need to buy the hole unit.

So I bought an cd mount and I mount my phone and It is like having a display with all the features(android auto, internet, ware, music, video). Pretty cool setup buy I want a backup Camara for convince even though my fit has backup sensors.

I am looking forward to a rear view mirror with auto dim and backup camara. That will be a nice upgrade.

I know you've been looking for a head unit for your Fit. No integration with the backup camera is unfortunate. Head Unit manufacturers are just not fast enough to keep up with all the new cars.

Is the Fit's 5.5" non-touch screen so bad? I really like mine, but I'm not too picky.
