Radio removal on a 2015 fit

Kenwood powered sub wired
THAT DID IT! IMO, it now sounds audiophile quality or damn close to it. Clean, undistorted music with a full firm bass. That little self-powered Kenwood sub is pretty amazing for its size.
After 3 hours of listening, will take a break and re-listen tomorrow after my football games. Am quite stoked with these results!!!!
How did you mount the subwoofer? I was thinking industrial velcro, but not sure it will stick to the "carpet". Did you drill the included screws/brackets into the floor? What did you do about the air vents under the seat? I was thinking about redirecting them somewhere, but if there are no issues with stuffing something in the vent to block it, that is what I would do.
Thanks again!

The velcro actually held pretty well for me. I think it will work well enough. I ended up taping the air vents under it with electrical tape; I figure that will just redirect the air to the other vents instead of onto my sub. The sub blends pretty well with the stock speakers at 2-3 o'clock on the sub volume (highest volume is 5 o'clock).

Thanks for the info on removing the radio, etcetera, Superfly. I saw your info about removing the vent, I decided to give it a try. I'm trying to access the ducts behind the radio to retrieve a little piece of plastic that fell into the vent and down into the ducts. The piece of the vent flap that gangs the 3 horizontal louvres together - it broke off when I removed the vent-mounted bracket for my gps. It is about 30 mm long and 3 mm in diameter.
Bought a set of plastic trim-prying tools and finally got the trim pieces off. Found it difficult. I was a-feared I'm gonna break things.

It found it difficult to wedge the trim tool behind the gauge trim piece. The way I finally got the gauge trim off was by loosening the center vent trim first, and then moving leftward to loosen the gauge trim, as if the vent trim and gauge trim were one piece.

I think I found the bottom screw for the radio but I'm not sure. I can't believe how well hidden it is, and that I have to access it through the space that was left when the dash section with the 12v socket, usb jack, and auxiliary jack was removed. There is no way to reach it from the space left by removing the glove box. Thanks for mentioning that it is an 8 mm screw Superfly, because there seems to be no way I could see or feel what kind of head it has, or what size it is. Well, maybe with a mirror. Looks like I ought to first disconnect the wires from the 12 volt socket, usb socket, and auxiliary jack so that I don't bump into the trim piece with my hand when I turn a screw driver handle to loosen the lower radio retaining screw.
