I bought a '16 Fit LX on Saturday, and spent set up custom wallpaper for the radio. I thought it was worth a post to share some lessons learned.
- Though the manual says the max wallpaper size is 1920x936, this is misleading. This size file will load, but will result in black bars at the top and bottom of the picture. The actual size that completely fills the screen is 1664x936, which happens to be the result if you start with a 1920x1080 picture and scale down to 936 pixels tall.
- As close as I can figure, the status bar at the top of the screen, which includes the time display, is 160 pixels tall.
- JPG files created with GIMP are not recognized by the radio, but JPG files created with Irfanview are recognized. I ended up using GIMP for editing, saving at a high resolution, then opening, resizing and saving from Irfanview.

I wish you could have the wallpaper and the information screen at the same time, it seems weird the way they do it.

 

No kidding. I honestly can't quite believe they designed the software so you have to choose between having your wallpaper and having the radio info on the screen. If they were mutually exclusive, they could have at least made it so the wallpaper displays when the radio is turned off. Or even had the radio station frequency show up in the status bar at the top of the screen to the left of the time display.

I'd kill to know how to crack the software on this radio so I could redo the user interface. Can you imagine being able to build your own screen skins, like you can on an android phone?
