DannyJ7's Foxy Build

Hey guys,

Started to realize that Foxy is kinda turning into a habit for me. I'm well into the $2K club and have quite a bit more in the works. I intend on using this thread as a keep sake of the build and to share my experiences. I'll be posting pictures and reviews of what I've done. Also, feel free to ask questions!

So, the RS-R SuperDown coils. I love them. They give a very modest drop (less than an inch out front) and feel fantastic on the road. Not too harsh, but Foxy feels really planted now! It took some time and effort, but well worth the $$$ I didn't have to pay for someone else to do it.

Performance mods completed so far (in chronological order):

1. HKS Hi-power Silent muffler - $300 - SUPER easy install, sounds a helluva lot better, not really all that noticeable difference in power TBH. Worth the money just for the go sounds. Bought from Kamispeed.
2. 10mm spacers on the rear wheels - $40 - Not the perfect purchase on my part. I had to grind out the rear of the spacer to make them fit properly due to the lip on the drum assembly. Had I done my research properly on this, would have been an easy 10 minute job. Makes a big difference in appearance. Amazon.
3. Tanabe Sustech strut tower bar - $130ish? - Absolute pain in the ass to get the mounts in. Really odd bolt points and difficult to get it tightened down properly. Once the mounts are in, easy job. TBH not super sure this makes much if any difference in handling, but it looks nice. Not convinced I'd do it again. THMotorsports.
4. Progressive 19mm rear sway bar - $178 - 4 bolts and PRESTO rear roll almost completely gone. Definitely would purchase again! Axion Industries.
5. Weapon-R secret weapon intake - $214 - very similar to the muffler. Makes nice noises, not really any easily noticeable difference in power. Butt dyno says more low end torque, but I could be wrong. I'd pass on this mod if you're looking for power. I'm sure there's other, better, options out there. Looks very nice in the bay. For the money, it's an ok purchase. Not super thrilled. Quality Vertical Doors on eBay.
6. RS-R SuperDown coils - $220 - by miles the biggest pain to install of anything I've done. HUGELY noticeable difference in ride. I would have paid double to get the results. Very happy with this purchase. Bought from CarID, who was pretty awesome about quite a few things.
7. Buddy Club Short Throw Shifter - $160 - nice crisp shift action. Significantly improves daily driving feel.

Update on the RS-R SuperDown springs after driving on them for a few hundred. Still love them. Still trying to figure out that random clunk from the rear though...

Buddy Club on left, stock on right

Buddy Club on left, stock on right

Buddy Club on left, stock on right

So got the Buddy Club short shifter installed this afternoon. What an immediate difference! Gears shifts are much closer and seem to engage with stronger feel. Biggest complaint on this guy is that the fit and finish don't seem to match the price. $160 is fairly steep for injection molded plastic, some springs, and a few clips. Particularly when I had to file down some points to make fitment proper. Overall, I would recommend this. It completely changes the feel of the car. Just seems more eager...

how long have you had the short shifter in? does it make the shifter feel heavier as well? ive been wanting to try and see if GE8 or CRZ shifter bushings would fit

I've had it in since Wednesday eve. It makes it feel much heavier. It's extremely satisfying to use. They make one specifically for the CRZ, which the one for the GK is based on.

Could you describe, to a super car noob, how these affect handling? What noticeable differences do you feel?

Not sure that I have the vocabulary to do it justice. I'd hop on YouTube and look for some explanation videos. Car feels "tighter".

RACKIN FRACKING TIE ROD CAME LOOSE! Not the easiest issue to diagnose, but holy crap shaites, what a little thing can make such horrible noise. Since fixed...Forewarning for others, make sure that is secured, but TIGHT, before reassembling your front.

I have that random clunking sound also coming front the driver side front. I'll have to check it out later.
