Anyone for the new 2009 Fit (Hawaii)??

Anyone else impressed with the 2009 Fit?

I'll try to contact some Hawaii salespeople to find out when to start ordering one. I hope they don't go back and start charging $3000 over MSRP because it is a "hot new model".

I don't expect supply to increase and sure hope it doesn't decrease.

I see that some Fit owners voice they like the older model's appearance better than the new one.

I was just in Singapore a few months ago and their Fits look similar to ours but the bumpers are a little different.

The new version will sell first in Japan now, then eventually make it to the US.

First Drive: 2009 Honda Fit

Quote:
The incorporation of i-VTEC variable valve timing helps the 1.5-liter engine produce 118 horsepower at 6,000 rpm (an improvement of 9 hp) and 107 pound-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm (a very useful increase of 21 lb-ft).

We spent much of our time in the 1.5-liter model with the five-speed manual transmission that will come to the U.S. in about a year. With a handheld stopwatch, we clocked this car to 60 mph in 8.9 seconds.

It sort of looks like a 3/4 size Toyota Previa from years ago.

But a bit better than that.

Anyway some current owners like the older Fit styling better.

Hi guys,

This is my first post, but I really want to buy a 2009 fit when I come back from Japan next August. I see those little suckers driving around EVERYWHERE, and I am now addicted. Do you have any idea when they will start selling the 2009 fit?

No one really knows yet but like most new versions it will probably arrive in about Sept 2008 for the 2009 model year and be at a premium marked up price.

Do you live in Hawaii and are now in Japan? If so then pick a dealership and start talking to them about march to get on the "list" and put down a deposit to get a new Fit in sept. I doubt they will have any in August.

If you wait until August then there may already be a bunch of people ahead of you with a four month wait to get your choice of colors. If you need a contact person I can put you in touch with someone at the dealership of your choice in Hawaii.

Yeah, I am living in Japan for a year and coming back home to Honolulu in August. I wonder how much the price will be. I read on your other posts that a guy named gunnar (sp?) participates in the costco auto buying program. Do you think it will apply to the new fit?

Currently the Fit doesn't apply to Costco pricing since it is in such short supply.

Costco negotiates with Honda by region to establish agreed on prices for common models that are plentiful. Anything that is in limited supply is not costco priced and subject to market fluctuations.

Production for the new Fit will hopefully start in the US but until that becomes full speed the Hawaii supply is likely to come from Japan and be very limited at best probably no better than it is currently.

As a result expect fit prices to be a few $100 more than current base MSRP but dealer markup will likely be about $1000-1500 more in the first 4 to 6 months for Hawaii.

Where in Hawaii?

Best guess is the first will arrive about Sept 08. Not sure on prices yet whether way over MSRP or not.

Some buyers like the older version some like the new. I hope the newer version gets better mpg. But that would make the demand higher and prices will remain high.

my uncle is actually one of the managers at tony group and he advised me that the 09 fits should be reaching our shores around september/october. i believe they're gonna be higher than msrp just because the fit is such a sought after car.
but my friends a salesman at pflugger (sp?) in town and they just placed another order for 30 or something more of the 08 fits..

THE FITS ARE SELLING LIKE HOT CAKES!! =)

i dont really care for the 09. i think looks more space ship looking but i guess just have to get use to.non the less i love my 08. but having 118 hp would have been the best to have from the start. the i-vtec im not totaly sure on that part. i think the 09 is a but long looking to me.
