FINALLY... Got my MR A/T Sport

First, I want to thank the people on FitFreak for all the knowledge they've shared. I could use a whole paragraph listing their names. Thank you all.
I've been waiting for this car since the first photo's were leaked in, I think Sept. of '07. That distorted fish eye view of the grey future '08 jdm version where the headlights looked 3' long.

My ordered car came in last Monday 10/13 and I picked it up on 10/15.
I'm loving this car! I have my usual, somewhat long list of "to do's" around the house before winter sets in, but all I want "to do" is zip up, down and around the mountains and hills where I live. This morning, going out for a half gallon of milk at the local convenience store took over an hour instead of the usual 10 minutes. I took the long way.

The car corners great and sticks to the road. I haven't taken it on the Thruway yet and I'm still in the break in period, but so far I'm delighted with the responsiveness and there seems to be plenty of pep.
What a difference from my last car; '93 Corolla wagon. It served me well for years, but the handling was Very Sloppy.

I love the large script on the radio head unit and the easy to read dials. (older eyes) Seats are very comfortable and I'm glad the headrest position is not an issue for me, as it is for some. And if I lean my head back a tiny bit, it's a great resting spot.
The USB is great. I bought a cheap 8 gb flashdrive and copied all my music onto it. (Thank you "IfTheFoo" for CDex info. Even I could figure out how to use it.) With the head unit it's fast and easy to scroll through dozens and dozens of albums/folders.

I've ordered the usual items from Collegehills. Mats, cargo cover, wheel locks and body side moldings. I have till next spring to get the windows tinted. No problem with heat till June around here. My first interior "mod", and I'm using that term very loosely, will be to put a strip of black tape, probably duct tape along front strip of front doors where body color shows when your inside and door is closed. With the red paint, my eyes keep being drawn to that vertical line. (1/2" wide by 11" long) On other colors it may look OK, but with the red it's just too bright. And if I don't like it? Just remove the tape. And duct tape will give it that carbon fiber, textured look that so many seem to like.

Anyway, thanks again for all the info. Now that I actually have the car, I'll see if I can contribute more. I've taken some pictures of my car in different locations, but since there are lots of pictures of Milano Red Fits out there, I'll include my favorite one in this post. The view from sitting behind the wheel. ( from my milk run this morning) Len

And as soon as I post this, I'm out for another ride.

Congrats! and...that landscape you're driving through looks like something out of "What Dreams May Come". Are you still on Earth? JK. I know it's a Photoshop filter at work.

I blame it on the USB port. Driving around listening to all the old music from a far away time. The Happy Trails I'm listening to is from Quicksilver Messenger Service, not Roy Rogers and Dale Evans sorry about the OT.

I'll get some exterior car pics.

Oh yeah. Filled up my tank today for the first time. With manual calculation came out with 34.8 mpg. And that's 75% on hills, small mts. and twisting roads. I'm happy!

Here's a normal picture. Before I washed and waxed it. Not too many more warm days left for waxing.
My Collegehills stuff will be here on Wed.

Congrads on your car and glad to hear that you are enjoying it. It is hard not to want to drive it when you
finally get it home. Watch the duct tape on the painted surfaces it may pull off paint if you remove. Check your local car shop to see if they have any suggestions. Hope you have several years of happy driving and keep us up to date when you add more parts. Moding is a very good thing!

Your right, I'll come up with another solution. I have to remember the delicate paint on these cars.

Congratulations on your new ride. Looks like another satisfied ex-Toyota owner.

Congrats on the new ride. I must admit that MR looks even better than I'd imagined, and that's before you washed and waxed. Good luck with your aftermarket mods. Enjoy!

Well.....they did wash and wax it at the Dealers, which is why I started the thread: Spiderweb scratches on new Fit

When I saw the car at the NY Auto show. I thought to myself. Love the car, but I won't get red! Up till this summer I was going to get Tidewater. But I always buy light blue cars, and decided I wanted to be very visible in a small car. I like the red and I LOVE the red on overcast days when it becomes a deep blood red. Sort of Candy apple.

I must say that I haven't yet seen a bad color on the new Fit. I wish that Honda would offer more vibrant colors (e.g., yellow) to match the car's fun personality. Not that I'd buy a yellow car, but I think there are people out there who beg for a wider ranging color palate. I digress... again, enjoy your ride!

Heh heh, I recognize that wall and hillside anywhere. That's a fun drive cutting through Minnewaska. I grew up pretty close to there: Highland.

I figured you either lived around here at some point or climbed the Gunks. But still, to be able to pick out that portion of road. After being photo shopped, no less. Cheers!
