That's because Volkwagen has announced they are phasing out their Pumpe Deuse fuel-delivery system in favor of common-rail pressurized direct fuel injection over the next few years. This will allow VW turbodiesel engines to meet EPA Tier 2 Bin 5 emissions standards far more easily since direct fuel injection allows for extremely precise fuel delivery for far better control of the combustion process.
