If any company is going to be introducing a diesel engine, it is almost a prerequisite that a turbo is strapped to it. MtViewGuy188 is right, the TDI fuel delivery system is out dated now that common-rail technology has been introduced. I had the CDI 800cc engine in my smart car before my Fit. It got great fuel economy and ran great. Lots of torque, but lacking HP. The CDI engine in my smart was also turbocharged, but it was a tiny snail.
