Can't believe it, even running this Ca. blend gas just filled up and got 37.5 mpg. 265 miles on tank 120 cty. and 145 hwy. at 70 to 75 mph. The city driving was very spirited, love how willing this car revs. Over 1600 miles total now.

Yeah I have a hell of a time getting the mileage up around 33-37, required driving very frugally and coasting, our gas must be watered down with ethanol more than we think?

Gas mileage

My first tank was around 36mpg, mixed highway city. Then a 200 mile interstate trip, speeds of 65-80mph 40.1mpg. last tank 90% open road at 55 to 70 mph, balance suburban 38.1 mpg. I drive with a very light right foot, result of driving gas guzzlintg pickups for too long. Mileage 1300, manual basic Fit.

I think its the gas we have to deal with. It looks like California and the metro areas like D.C. get the worst mileage must be gas blend and Ca. emissions. Are all fits built with 50 state emissions?

1st tank got 33.3 mpg, 2nd tank netted 35.2 (292.2 miles/8.3 gals.), mostly local driving with occasional highway. Very happy so far, hope to hit 40s on long highway trips.

I may be giving you a run for your money in age there coop laugh.. I still get on the gas a bit.. sometimes on purpose, some accidental.. (not paying attention and wide open road tends to do that.. laugh) Filled again at 1/4 tank.. 40.11etc.. per gal. most of the speeds around here cept in town are 45-50 mph.. and that isn't freeway just regular backroads.

I haven't added gas, but my 4th one seems to get the best mileage. the odd part is...i'm revving this guy like crazy???!!! This tank is the first time(s) I try to rev this high for freeway. Maybe my estimate is off, but i don't thik so. Just a bit past half way mark, it's 200miles. Usually at this point when I drove slower, it was 160miles.

First two tanks on my Sport 5MT

1st tank - 100% city driving, some stop+go, A/C blasting all the time = 32.3mpg

2nd tank - 100% hwy driving, 2 passengers + dog, cage etc, 80mph, A/C on 100%, mostly cruise control - 37.8 mpg. Looks like the EPA #s right on the money so far.

I filled up today getting 33.5. I drove very aggressive. revving at 5000 whenveri'm bored, and i sprinted whehter on freeway or local (i.e. if its 45 mph i'll rev high till i reach the speed, then shift to 5th from whatever gear i was on). the engine is breaking in even more. reminder
1st driving (conservative) = 34
second driving (little faster) = 33
third tank (slightly even faster)= 34
fourth tank (revving very high) = 33.5 (more than 2nd drive)

note that for first, second and third, i never exceeded 3000 rpm other than when on the freeway.

FIT sport with a 5 speed manual trans.

First tank (90% HW at 70mph no a/c) = 38.3 mpg.
I now have about 1800 miles on her and have never gone below 40 mpg during my 60-mile daily commute to work. My commute to work is around 80% highway and 20% city with no a/c (until this week- it's been very hot in Michigan).

It’s been a long time since I left a filling station with a smile on my face. This could be the best car I have bought.

I seem to be on par with everyone else. I have 1800 miles on my fit and have been between 35 - 38 mpg. I am driving VERY quickly, reving to 4500 -5000 rpm's usually. I have been driving about 60/40 highway/city.

Fit Sport MT.

Very first tank of gas was 31.8 MPG. Almost no highway driving, all city with frequent stops.

Not very impressive, but not horrible either. We'll see how the second tank fares, but it's with craptastic MTBE laden California gas now.

I have a sport MT and have been getting 34mpg with almost no highway driving at all. Had a customer drive from Maryland to Kentuky and he averaged 38-39mpg the entire way.

You are miscalculating. You are assuming that you are using half a tank. You have to drive until the low fuel light comes on, refuel until auto cut off comes on, the drive again until low fuel light comes on, etc.
