Uh? So Honda engineers must be fools to print into the owner’s manual something as foolish as leaving the oil in until the maintenance minder tells you it’s time to change the oil. Off all things, these people are far more educated on this subject. New cars burn much cleaner, and fewer contaminants end up in the oil. How many Honda engines have followed the recommended change intervals and had oil related engine failures? Likely very few.
Some people still get milk delivered to their door each day, we go to the grocery store and buy milk that’s pasteurized and has a longer shelf life without going bad.
My Fit has over 4200kms and the maintenance minder just dropped to 70%, mine spends a good amount of time on the highway for long periods of time. A co-worker drove over 10500kms in his Civic before the level dropped under 10%. I’d love to see the oil get ana-lysed when the maintenance minder reads 10% to see if the Honda engineers know what they are doing. Uhmm, I think I’ll be doing that.
