I am about to buy a 2009 Fit Sport when I saw a thread here talking about how low the nose is on the car. My driveway as a bit of a "ramp" at the entrence where the road dips down till it hits the driveway concrete which then slopes sharply up till it levels off. Are Fits overly-susceptible to nose damage from dips and ramps like this?

It could definitely not end well, but just try to cut in at as much of an angle as possible.

 

Ack. maybe I should get in for a test drive and drive the car to my house first! The dealer is only a few miles away.

 

If you could post a picture of the slant, it would help us decide, and maybe some GE owners could chime in. If you don't plan on lowering it, then it shouldn't be too big of a deal, unless it's a crazy situation.

 

The test drive sounds like a really good idea! Check it out in your real life.

I think the base has slightly higher trim, but I know how many people on here prefer the sport (and it does have a lot more features), so...

yes the sport is "lower" only b\c it has a trim or more bumper area, you could try going in reverse, the rear bumper has a higher lip, also, you could try going in at an angle, like one wheel at a time, once u get one wheel on the slant, you could start turning in. pics still help

 

Only way is going in at an angle.

 

Angle definitely helps. My daughter's preschool driveway is pretty bad, but angle and a slow approach takes care of it. Parking curbs are also a problem, but because the Fit is so short, just don't pull all the way up.

 

Don't worry to much about it... Unless your going in at a crazy speed the underside of the bumper wont take much damage. The brush guard is usually the first thing to scrape the ground but that's no biggy it's a piece of rubber and if you here the lip scrape and drag only damage being done is to the under side where you can see any way. Just take it slow.

 

I have a dip in the front of my house, the drainage kind that is probably a good 4-6" rise from the street. I have taken my 09 fit sport straight at it several times and had no damage.

 

If fit would scrape you might need to get an SUV.

If your trying to tell the guy spending another $5,000 - $10,000 for an SUV is a good idea because he might scrape the underside of his lip that no one can see then your out of your mind.

Hey worse comes to worse you can fill the dip with some gravel.

 

thats what i do with my garage, my driveway is gravel so the garage concrete floor is like 3 inches high than the gravel, so i laid some gravel to make a ramp, and damn it never felt so smooth to go in n out. only downside is that the rain tends to flatten the ramp so, every month you might ahve to ramp iot up again

 

What I'm trying to say is the fit is not that low.

 

its still lower than standard.. on a regualr car, you woudnt have to worry about scraping over the parking curb, where as the fit, you do, at least for gd3

 

I kind of think if you scrape a stock GD3, it's time for a truck. That shit is like 4x4 status. My town's roads suck, and driving a 350z is very easy. (not saying a z is slammed)

 

UPDATE:

Thanks for all the help! I went for another test drive today and drove it to my house and found that if I go straight on, there is a very minor scrap even at very slow speed as I enter the driveway. If I go at a small angle, there is no scraping. I put a depo down when I got back!
