Question Power Steering Fluid?

This question is going to make me sound like an idiot, and I'm aware of that. I recently started taking my 2007 to a new dealership for maintenance. On my work-up, the service specialist noted many things that he said I needed to get done. Among them were a brake fluid flush and a power steering fluid flush.

Am I crazy, or doesn't the Fit have electric power steering? And, if/since it does have EPS there's not a Power Steering flush necessary?

After the work-up I had to go to work so I didn't opt to have all the servicing done. I called the guy the next day inquiring about the EPS... he claimed that the fit didn't have it.

WhatTF?

He's an idiot or crook (probably both). Fits have electric power steering. I would tell him to flush it, then raise hell about it. Report him to Honda.

Then the dude who told you that was insane..EPS doesn't need to be flushed, since it's not hydraulic.

Red face

Thanks for the reassurance. I know that it's easy to try to take advantage of me because I'm a girl, but I do know and love my car. I just needed to double check before I went to raise hell.

Thanks again!

If it was just a independent service shop I might say ignorance as EPS is relatively new. But a Honda dealer? They should know, the Fit is more than popular enough that by now it would not have been the first one they had to service.

They where just trying to pad the bill. Probably because your female and they think you don't know any better. If there is another convenient dealer I would just go there. If not I would talk to the service manager and/or contact Honda Of America.

Eh, if it is a Honda shop and the mileage was at a point where most Hondas get a flush, he was probably just rattling stuff off from memory and has said it so many times, that it just flows out automatically. It happens. But if you make sure you mention it is a Fit and then they still insist that they have to flush it, or if you ask if a lot of Fits have problems with the power steering fluid and they keep telling you they need to do the filter, then take your car elsewhere.

Mistakes happen from time to time, but if you give them a few chances and they still are lying to you, do let them near your car...
