My U.S. Fit has a 5 speed manual. I've put about 2,000 miles on it now. Oil monitor says 60% - all city driving except one trip of about 300 miles on the highway. Here's what I've recorded so far. (All with A/C running).

First two tanks about 31-32 mpg
Changed wheels and tires - Honda 16" spoke wheels and BF Goodrich 205 45's
Third and forth tank ~29 mpg
Road trip returned over 40 mpg
This past month tanks have averaged about 24 - 25 mpg
One tank got only 22 mpg but I think I might of had my foot in most of the time.
I drive VERY conservatively most of the time! I am very disappointed with these numbers so far. My last car, a 2003 Civic LX averaged 33 mpg in the same conditions. I am thinking this little Fit really needs some more HP to make it more fuel efficient.
Is anyone going to compile the results of this post and give us all some numbers or do we need to do it ourselves?

 

I currently have 1,500 miles on my Fit Sport 5MT. I've tracked each tank meticulously and with a combination of highway and city I've never seen any better than 29 mpg on a tank. Will this hopefully improve with more miles?? Have others noticed that early on mileage is lackluster?

 

I've found that when I drive downhill I get better mileage. I suppose that I drove uphill my first 6,000 miles or so!!! I averaged 28.7 at that point. I've gotten 32-35 the past several tanks.... mainly going downhill

Boy am I happy! Manual Tranny base. Dealer filled first tank. Drove 369.1 miles. Today filled it up for the first time with 9.111 gallons = 40.51 MPG.

To be fair this first tank doesn't really reflect my normal driving pattern. I did a lot of country roads with speed limits of 40-50 that have few stop lights/signs, just because I felt like driving Not much use of A/C as it has been cool. Normally I do much more stop 'n go combined with 60-70 mph freeway driving.

It will be interesting to see how the MPG changes once I get back to normal habits. That won't be this tank yet though, I still am whipping her around those back roads!!

 

I put in 28 litres after 475km, for 5.9l/100km or 40 miles per US gallon. Since this was the dealer tank the fuel amount may be slightly off. Driving was mostly city (5km commute) with a little in-town expressway driving. I also did some 'ring sealing', plus about 20 minutes idling when bleeding coolant after putting in a block heater. The car is an LX with manual transmission.

 

In the U.S. we have the base model and the sport model. What is the LX and how many models do they have in Canada ?

 

We have DX, LX, and Sport. LX is equivalent to the US base. DX has no air conditioning or power windows.

 

Ok, thanks for the info. Once upon a time we use to get DX as a choice but I guess no one would buy them anymore.

By the way kps I found the plug I'll use for the block heater and I think it's what you had in mind. Here it is and it's for marine applications so it's watertight http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catal...=SearchResults

First I thought about the block heater inlet plug that tractor trailers (Semi's) use but they get too corroded.

Just did my second fill up, with 90% city driving, I got 35mpg's. That was up from the first tank which was 33mpg's. This is with the M/T and I'm driving just as I drive all my cars.

 

Took the Fit on one of my favorite roads here (Ohio Rt. 164) and then some new ones for a total run of just over 200 miles. Had some fun on the twisties and run in 3rd and 4th gear in the higher rpm's where possible. Filled up before leaving and showed 33mpg on that tank. On the back roads that I took the car managed to get 37.9mpg (the best ever), when I filled up again. My driving was more aggressive than normal, but there were few stops. The fewer stops must be the reason for the better mpg's, and I had plenty of fun on a great day here !
The Fit has just over 1000 miles now!

My mileage to date for a MT Sport purchased 5/29:

Miles: 8422
MPG: 37.2
80% Highway
Best: 44mpg - Driving from Denver to Grand Lake and back.
Worst: 19mpg - all city driving, 3-5 mile trips with many lights.

 

I have recently picked up my MT Fit and it gave me 6.6L/100km (35.6mpg) on its first tank of gas. This is roughly 60% highway and 40% city, and the city driving consisted of a lot of uphill trip.

Thus, I really have no clue why ppl are getting such bad gas mileage since the Fit has already broken my best record on the integra.

 

I got my fit October 16th and so I haven't really had enough time to fill it up enough, but since i broke 1400 mi on it earlier this week I thought i'd go ahead and post what I have so far on my base m/t.

The second fill was 100% highway (75-80 mph). The rest is 100% city-highway miles (meaning anything from 0-5 mph to 75-80 mph).

 

I just picked up my Manual Sport last month and filled up 2 times. I can only get in a little over 10 gallons. I am, however, getting great gas milage. Tank #1 = 32mpg, tank #2 = 35.7, and tank # 3 looks like it will get much better than tank 2 possibly near 38 to 40 mpg. The progression has alot to do with me learning how to keep rpms down, and cruising at 70. I live in San Antonio and commute through traffic filled freeways, highways and streets. About the best I can do (estimate on tank in progress) is around 350 miles on a tank. I LOVE THIS CAR!

 

That is 350 miles with a 9 gallon fill.

 

I read your comment that is quoted and I shake my head.... I have done it once..... my second best is 38mpg. I just did 35 mpg on the hwy in the rain/downpoor with wind. the south puget sound has dumped near 10 inches of rain in some areas in the last 24 hours. I think driving in it is like walking in water.....

 

now that it's been in the teens and maybe warmer during the day, I've been getting lower milage but not by much, depends on where i am going and what the roads are like.. but it's not dropped that much. last tank was 40 one before 38.6.

 

Our Fit (base mt) now has 16,000 miles. Borrowed it from my wife last week and used a full tank of gas, mileage was 43 mpg, mostly highway at 55, maybe 10% stop and go Boston traffic. About where it always runs. The same trip on my Insight is always 70 mpg or above in summer, 65mpg in winter , both cars have snows tires on now.

 

I've run through two tanks now with my first getting me 40.8 and the second getting 37. This is on a sport manual.

The first tank was filled up by the dealer so I'm not sure how much he put in so I'm guessing he ran it to the first couple of pump cut-offs. I drove it about 50/50 city and highway but was really trying to baby it to see what kind of mileage I could get.

The second tank was almost 100% highway and I ran half at 70 mph and half at 80 mph with a little cruising at 90 as traffic was hauling butt on I-40. Going 80 definately takes it's toll on the mileage.
