I think the intercooler looks great. Its not that big to me. And having a decent sized intercooler is a priority on a higher compression NA motor. Prevents detonation. A side mount would probably heatsoak fast and cause problems.

I think the kit looks great. Great pricing also.

I was gonna ask about the benefit of having a intercooler with 6 psi.

I don't know 100% on how turbo works. I never really knew what the intercooler was there for. I always thought it was there to cool the air going into the engine. Which is pretty much self explanitory if you study the pipes. So what i'm trying to ask is, does the intercooler just cool the air? or does it increase HP too? If so by how much? If it's a major huge difference, maybe loosing the fogs will be worth it.

Last thing, what's the expected lifespan of our engine after installing this engine? couple hundred miles?

Initial pricing looks very attractive. Might just have to reconsider on the JRSC...

Yeah goo choice with the t25. I used to have an sr20det 240sx with the factory t25 and that turbo really rips! Some other older thread mentioned of some guy in australia or something that built a custom turbo setup for his 1.5l and he said the t25 was a perfect setup for his fit. I think he said it made a good 180hp too!

will the intercooler produce more hp than the turbo kit w/out intercooler?? or it just help to coold down the air faster?

Hahaha, you mean thats trans cooler?
That intercooler sucks on the MS Miata. All the intercoolers suck on the MS cars.
Sidemounts, frontmounts, and that HORRIBLE topmount.

Yeah then buy a mbc and turn it up to compensate for the drop and add some hp.

Yes. When you compress air, its temperature goes up. When you run atmospheric air over the intercooler, it cools the air going into the engine. Cooler air is more dense, which means it has more oxygen in it. More oxygen allows you to add more fuel, which gives more boom!

As a general rule, with N/A engines, 11 degrees farenheit cooler yeilds 1% more power. Turbo, the difference is (as I remember) even greater.

The intercooler will help to make a few more hp. The purpose of having an intercooler, is to obtain more consisitant low tempuratures against heat soak. If you run the car high revs continuously, the engine will get hot fast so having an intercooler will be a good option.

If you drive normally (normal driving behaviour), running the turbo with no intercooler is OK.

dammit the ONLY thing stopping me from buying one w/ a fmic is me losing my foglights! i hate that idea! maybe someway i can modify the foglight housings or maybe get smaller foglights? gosh i dont wana lose em!! newayz i love that price and will definitely pick this turbo kit up once its released. I also always wanted turbo. I really like turbo on automatic cars (first boosted auto was my 92 civic hatch) and i loved it. I love my paddle shifters so i will have soo much fun!

YES I totally agree with you, I don't want to lose the fog light too!!! I LOVE the light is looks on the bumper. Well, I guess you can just take the light off and leave the cover there, except leave a big hold on the bumper.

There weren't not much room in that area so we weren't able to install the intercooler pipe without taking off the fogs....

I might consider to use a smaller intercooler and that might work but it will not perform as good as the one that we have now.

The benefit to having the holes in the bumper without foglights then, is that it will look like the new Evo IX bumper with the holes to cool the intercooler endcaps and pipes!

Couple of questions:

1) Will having an intercooler affect the car's emissions legal status for those of us that need to remain street legal.
I only ask this because the emission's kit listed in the first post doesn't even include the intercooler

Quote:
(3) T1R Turbo kit with no intercooler (Emission kit)
- BOOST 0.4 bar (6 PSI) kit

-Comes with E-manage (custom program inside)
** comes with high flow catalytic convertor for emissions**
-Available before summer 2007

2) Going with a smaller IC in order to keep the foglights would be acceptable for guys (like me) that spent some $$$ upgrading the fogs to HIDS and don't want to lose them. About how much of a loss can you expect with going with a smaller IC? Either way it's probably better than no IC at all right?
