You could add copy gasket spray/sealer. Extra insurance. Its not needed but you can add it.

I looked at doing that, but everything cleaned up really nicely with the parts cleaner I used. I would have like to hit it with some fine emery paper to give it a super smooth face... but I am lazy I made sure to tighten it up every evenly and it all sealed up with no problem.

I'm pretty sure someone around here manually welded some little studs to re-use the stock heat shield for slipping by smog check even easier.

Also, I think the KWSC mod people wrap at least one pipe, the one nearest the compressor output.

I've wrapped mine with a CRY-O2 heat wrap. Takes out SO much heat!! A real BI*CH to do tho. Really messy and takes a while.
