This is my first post here, but I wanted to ask someone representing AJ Racing why it is that they don't accept returns. I recently asked the company this in an email, because I was looking to buy the T1R carbon fiber intake from them, but at $400 I didn't want to get it if I couldn't take it back. Apparently on AJ racing's website they have this to say:
"All purchases made from A&J Racing are final. Under no conditions will returns be accepted or refunds given. "
I never received word from the company with regard to this policy. I can't trust a company like this, that doesn't seem to stand behind the products they sell. Just seems shady to me. So I'm keeping my $400 despite the fact that I desperately wanted th CF intake. Bought a K&N drop-in instead, but man, it's just not the same thing.

I'm guessing it's easier to state that as your policy and then work with people on a one by one basis. A lot of his parts are custom order and specialty items that he probably doesn't stock. With those parts I can understand the policy.

I can certainly understand the policy if it was in regard to custom order or specialty parts, but the CF intake wouldn't seem to fall into either of those categories. I'm sure if I bought the CF intake I'd love it and never have any need to return it. But, I just wouldn't feel comfortable knowing that I *couldn't* Maybe they should explicitly state the policy for custom/special order as opposed to stuff like the CF intake...
My question is, why would you buy something, then return it right away? I can understand if you took it out and it was damaged or something and you want it replaced with a new unit, but why would you fork out the money for something then having a change of heart when it arrives and send it right back?
Im sure if when you received teh product and there was something wrong with it Ben would gladly exchange the item. Ben and AJ-R are stand up guys! However If you wanted to return it simply because you didnt like it thats another story. Alot of companys wont let you Just return an Item because you didnt like it.
No, correct, I'm talking about there being a problem with the thing, not a change of heart. I agree, it wouldn't make sense to take something back just because somebody decided they'd rather not have it anymore. I'm talking about possible damage due to shipping, or the product being defective. The policy is very clear that no returns are possible-- this would seem to include defective parts, which I think any company has a responsibility to take back or replace.
If there is something wrong, I'm pretty sure that they would help you out in any way they can. There's lots of posts about their great customer service

LOL I'm 99.99999% sure that Ben and A&J will happily replace a defective or damaged part. Everything from them is well packed and I highly doubt there will be any shipping damage. They actually sent me the wrong Honda Red Emblem before, but he was more than happy to send me the correct one after I returned the wrong one. I believe sumo had an issue with his CF intake, he took it to Ben and got a brand new one from him.
Ok, not having bought anything from them before I'm just going on what they present through their site. I understand and appreciate that these guys might be stand-up folks, but what they have to say on their site would seem, in my eyes, to suggest otherwise. What you're sayng then is that I should feel comfortable that if I fork over 400 for the intake, that if there truly was a problem with it these guys would take it back?
If so, I may have just lost $40+shipping on a K&N. Anybody need one ?
Ben and A&J are really stand up guys and have been supporting the Fit and this forum for a long time now. Great products, great service, I'm pretty sure they will replace any defective parts that they send out. They usually check everything before shipping out, so the chances of that happening is slim to nil. Also, everything is carefully and meticulously packed so there will be no damage during shipping. He's a busy guy, but if you want to confirm, give him a call (make sure you ask for Ben since there is new staff there now to help him out). He is a busy guy, I usually talk to him on a daily basis, but sometimes hes so damn busy I don't get a reply until 9PM!!! Tard needs to start paying me for all this work I do for him on this forum hahahaha!
Oh and don't forget, they are from Richmond/Vancouver where the population is basically Chinese. I think their intention was to ward off flakers who buy stuff, then send it back for a refund, not for people who received damaged goods. Engrish not so good on the West Coast (BTW I'm asian too so I can make that joke...ONLY A JOKE PEOPLE! )
It also says nothing, absolutely nothing about no exchanges. Their policy is based on no returns. Those are 2 completely different things. If a part comes damaged or defective, I'm positive that AJ-R will exchange it. You just can't return it for a refund.
I have ordered numerous items from them and they are an awesome company to deal with. Ben and the crew are totally stand up and hve supported this forum since day 1. When i wanted my JDM hazard switch another vendor wanted $25 to ship a $35 switch. Ben sent it us parcel well wrapped for $7.50 i was stoked.
ive purchased numerous of parts from these guys and never had a problem with it being damaged or anything. but im with illusive why would you buy something then return it. if your going to buy something make sure your really want it don't jump into it.
Well as I said, I wasn't saying I wanted to return it because I wouldn't be happy with it, just exchange it if it came either damaged or defective. And as I also said, their website says that "all sales are final." That declaration implicitly applies to returns AND exchanges. About.com has "all sales final" in the retail industry to mean:
Definition: All Sales Final means that no refunds, merchandise credits or exchanges are accepted.
As such, their website is saying something that seems to contradict what you all are saying about the company. This was my original contention and I stick with it. Anecdotally they might have a great rep and I'm glad to hear that is true. However, their website implicity refuses both returns AND exchanges. Something that as a consumer I was not comfortable with.

Just throwing out my $.02. I was a little put off by having to call them to place an order, but after calling and talking to Ben when I placed my order it adds a whole new perspective to the customer service aspect.
I'm sure if you call them and tell him what you are looking to order and what your concerns are he'd be more than happy to talk to you about it and let you know that in the event that it arrives damaged they'll take care of you.
I get an awesome vibe from this company, and so far the customer service has been top notch, and I haven't even received my parts yet. (lol)
Ill give you my situation before I moved to Vancouver.
Back when I lived in Edmonton, I had purchased the T1R carbon intake only to find it was not sealed properly on one side. However I did not recoignize this at first and drove with the intake anyways and drove it for 3 months! I arrived to Vancouver in October, walked into AJR and ben was more then happy to exchange it for me with no hassel, and infact just put in new one in for me right then and there!.
you have nothing to worry about!! Ben stands behind his products!
A few things I've purchased from them in the past have had some manufacturing defects, but Ben always exchanged them for another that I was satisfied with.
