Sorry I have been slow in everything these days but I am still trying to catch up
OK ! For those who are interested in the T1R Quick shifter and would like to know how hard to install, well here's the installation thread
I will skip the removal of the center console and the change level assy housing because those are really straight forward to do.
1) Once you have the change level housing off the car, use 2 flat head screw drivers to undo the 4 lock taps which holds the shifter.
1) Once you have the change level housing out, use 2 flat head screw drivers to undo the lock taps which holds the shifter.
After it is done it will look like the following pic.
2) Pull the change level ball seat off the shifter with a pair of screw drivers.
3) undo the reverse spring in order to let the shifter slide out of the lever assy.
4) Remove the white plastic joint with a pair of plyers. Don't try to force it cuz you might damage it. If you have any difficulty taking it off, use some hot water so the plastic will expand and it will come off easily. After you get that off, re-install to new shifter with applying lithium grease.
5) When you got the shifter removed, remove the other white plastic adaptor on your stock shifter and re-install to the new shifter with applying lithium grease as well.
6) Install the new T1R shifter back into the change lever housing and fit the side of the white plastic adaptor first then hook the reverse spring back on.
7) Apply a lot of grease to change lever ball seat then fit onto the T1R shifter.
10) Clip everything back on and reinstall change lever housing back to the car.
11) After it is done, it will look like this.
I think there might be some typo but I will keep revising it
Thanks
Ben

I sorry if I missed it somewhere but is this a modification to make shifts shorter? Or is it just making the shift handle itself shorter. If it's made to have shorter shifts how can the shift lever be longer without raising the shifter body for clearance like the skunk 2 spacers?
Finally Ben ! Hah I took me forever to remove the housing piece and the plastic joint. Put the joint in hot water to get it on to the T1R shifter lol. I would not have thought of that before I called you.

Yes, this is to make the shifting throw shorter. Eventually the shifter is longer at the bottom portion.
The T1R shifter does not need to raise the change level housing because that the way we designed it.

I just ordered one of these. Hopefully it will be easy enough to do. I also have to replace my handbrake lever when doing this. I'm not looking forward to it at all.

Yea, as AJ said, its a short THROW shifter. The actual mechanics to the transmission still move the same distance, but the shifter is designed so that it takes less distance (time) to actually switch gears. if that makes no sense, i apologize, im still tired lol... i had a B&M short shifter on my old tiburon, only a 30% decrease in travel and the difference is amazing. I cant wait to pick this up this summer...
If i buy this, maybe i should buy a mugen hand brake cover and shift boot at the same time. I assume it makes shifting much more enjoyable?
Ben you do too good of a job at promoting these great new mods!
It may make for shorter shifts but they will not be as short as the Skunk 2 or other shift lever extensions. Just using simple physics you can figure it out. The extension types make the distance from the fulcrum longer and shift throws shorter because they raise the shifter body for clearance to extend the bottom portion of the shift lever increasing the distance from the fulcrum point to the bottom of the lever.
Leaving the shifter housing in the stock location you can't make the distance as far away because you run into the floorboards because of lack of clearance. Therefore the change in the length from the fulcrum has to be shorter. The result being longer throws with this type of kit changing the lever only as opposed to ones using longer levers available because the shift body is raised for clearance.

What if the the T1R Shifter and say the OEM Shifter w/skunk2 attachment is the same length from the fulcrum to the tip? Then it could be as short correct? have you measured the T1R and the skunk2 or hfit side by side to say that the T1R isnt as long from the fulcrum to the tip which makes longer shifts?
Skunk2 states their kit shortens throw by 22%. AJ-R states the T1R shortens it by 35%. I dont think Ben would give us false numbers on this.
Without raising the shifter body there is not enough clearance to extend the shifter increasing it's length to as long as the Skunk 2 kit that's why it's raised using the Skunk 2 kit for the needed clearance.
so this is a shorter throw than the skunk2 kit, huh?
anyone that has it, how does it feel? i know this is quite a new car and shifter bushings may not be as necessary as older cars.... but does it feel like there is play in the gear? like when you're in first can you wiggle it side to side?

Very Helpful DIY. Couldn't have done the install without it, would have given up. The only thing that I would add is grow a third hand before installing. I did it with only two but that third would have made things easier.
