Just had the T1R quick shifter installed and I would have to say that this is one of the best mods I have done for the Fit so far. Wish they had come out with this a lot sooner. I was considering getting the Mugen short shifter but luckily I waited. If you want bang for the buck, this is the mod to get!
I always thought the Fit's gearbox was a little too loose and sloshy (is that a word?) and the throws were a little long. After installing the T1R quick shifter, the shifting feels so much more precise without being too stiff. The throws are shortened just enough and overall it reminds me of my Si Sedan (I just got one last week).
Ben, keep up the good work with all the quality products you develop for our Fits. And please start developing stuff for my FA5!

Done!
Well, it took me three hours (most of that time was spend here:) My "office job hands" are beat up, but this may be my first day off that I accomplished something
Now I am going to eat something, then go for a drive. I'll let you know what I think

Reason: Completion of install.
I put mine in 2 days ago. I have to agree and say that this is the best mod that I have done to my car too. The car actually feels like it is shifting like it was meant to.
The shift has a noticeable change in stiffing. The throw definitely has a stronger feel. Seems to be a lot shorter of a throw to me, but I haven't had a manual in a about 10 years.
It took me about 2 hours to complete this. It was a pain in the ass to get that retainer off the ball. I probably spent 30 minutes or so with that alone.
I was in the garage for 4 hours because I had to replace my parking brake assembly (piece broke off from "normal wear and tear"; according to Honda). Also, I painted the JDM hinge for the hood damper and installed that (had slight fitment issues that had to be strong-armed out).
Thank you so much for making this product and the others I have purchased.
Well it has been almost a week since I installed the Quick Shift. Great mod for the price. I love the tight shift pattern. There is no more slop between the gears and the placement is way more comfortable. It should have come from the factory like this.
My wife who was not too excited about it said she loved the feel and placement as soon as she was in the drivers seat. Before install she thought it was a waste of time and money.
how does this compare to the others...like Mugen, H-Fit, Skunk2...
I think this may be what I need! I'm hating the shift right now. I mean, it's one of the easiest manuals I've ever driven, but that 1st to 2nd shift....."***ughhhhhh****
2nd to 3rd ain't great either.....but 3rd to 4th...now you're talkin!
so does this shifter not lower the stock height on the shifter at all?
This was the one thing that I forgot to measure while I was installing. However, from looking at the parts the height seems the same. The feel is a little different, it sits forward verses lower. Nevertheless, the throws are more than an inch shorter (with stock knob). Shortening the shaft is mostly aesthetic. T1R did a great job of engineering a product that is functional and completes it's task in the proper way (Rather than taking stock design and chopping the top off).
With the stock shifting, whether in neutral, or in gear, you can wiggle the stick and you'll notice a good amount of slop (play). I found that this comes from loose tolerances in the shifter design, especially at the shift cable that connects to the bottom of the stick.
Is any of this slop reduced with addition of the T1R?
Also, where can I order the shifter from?
Thanks.
