We finally made it Our AJR S2000 and AJR Fit , both won the second place in Limited FR class and Micro class in the Super Street Time attack on November 8th Wednesday.
During the morning sessions our AJR Fit were having some suspension issues and embarassingly one of the wheel came off . Our mechanic and I did our best to get the car repaired and got the alignment re-aligned then were able to compete again
We were competing against Spoon Fit (race car which weighs 1900 lbs) , Skunk 2 Fit (Turbo'ed) , Jackson Racing Fit (Supercharged 150+whp) , Turn 3 Nissan Versa , N1 Motoring Fit (K20A + ITBs) was featured in Super Street magazine . It was quite tough because all these teams above have either a full built race car or highly tuned forced induction engines so our chances were really low. We didn't give up, we spent all our time and efford in suspension, braking and aero to keep us as competitive as possible and luckily WE MADE IT Eventhough our AJR Fit only made 105whp but with excellent setup and good driver, we are very very pleased with the results.
Here's the pic of the AJR S2000 and AJR Fit :
Here's the official results for the Super Street Time Attack 2006 !
Thanks again for all those who has supported our AJR team.
Thanks
Ben

Hi AJ + crew, sorry you guys were pitted far from us so no time to drop by to say hello as we spent the whole morning getting the car ready... We saw the wheels coming off the Fit at button hook turn. Good thing it was the slowest corner and you guys walked away and was able to continue. It could've been ugly if it was in the high speed section of Buttonwillow.
Excellent lap times you guys pulled. I was really impressed. I'd like to hear MaxRev's thoughts on the handling and braking of your Fit. Was he happy with the laptimes? He did an really awesome driving job on the S2000.
The N1 K20A Fit certainly had the straightline speed, but stock brakes were scary and handling was not bad, but could've been much improved. Overall it did well for a 2500+ lbs show car. :-)

It was really embarassing when the wheel came off but reason was not because the wheels aren't tight and it is because the vibration off the suspension affected the wheel to come off.
(Rob) MAXREV, he was ok with the laptimes. During the afternoon section, we were still tuning the suspension and if we have a little more time, Rob said he should be able to shave another 2 secs.
The result was a bonus for us because we thought we'll be the slowest car of the day but eventually we did 2:11.211 and we were only 0.87 Secs behind you while your car is making 200+whp even with 2500+ lbs, we will be no WAY to catch up on the straight.
If you guys Fit got properly setup, I am sure it should be doing under 2 minute range.
Cheers,
Ben

curious Ben, have you thought about using wire to secure the lug nuts? i think in your situation it would help to drill a hole in the lugs and use wire to secure them all.
we do that on all of our 2 peice brake rotors and on some of our drift cars lug nuts
ionno just a thought. Im so happy to see you guys did so well!!!!!!!!!
Considering that H1 cars are usually in 2:00 and 2:01 range (once somebody barely dipped into 1:59 in qualifying) at BW #13 CW config calling sub two minute laps this soon in a K20A Fit is a bit early I think. However that will be a nice barrier to break eventually.
H1 = 2400 lbs w/driver ~215 whp ish
H4 = 2150 lbs w/driver ~125 whp ish
and for this config the usual times are 2:01 for H1 and 2:03 for H4. It shows that whp gain in road courses isn't as dramatic as one might imagine.
AJ Fit = 2250 w/o driver ~105 whp good brakes good handling
N1 Fit = 2500 w/o driver ~210 whp but we had stock brakes and soft suspension. So we'll gladly take the close (we were a bit lucky really from lack of prep) win. MaxRev and I weight about the same I think.
What is interesting is if Spoon's claim of 1800 lbs (with out driver I think) is accurate... then replacing the 1.5 L series with K20A I think perhaps a weight of 1900 lbs or say 2075 lbs or so race weight w/driver, I think Fit with stock suspension (ie, no fancy relocation pick up points, just bolt on suspension) will do some good lap times in theory. But currently for K20A Fit to race H1 it would probably have to weight at 2350 lbs for K powered cars and Fit's suspension is at a disadvantage... just thinking out loud.

The new suspension I have in the car has adjustable end links (a little different than the ones that I am selling). When the suspension turns, it should turn with the shock but unfortunately the end link got stucked somehow so it was hitting against the inner part of the wheel to cause the wheel to come off.
We got a very good lesson and we learned a lot more in suspension tuning

K20A with bolt-ons should make 200whp and I forgot you got ITBs so your car should be making 240whp at least
Nice to see you out there and I am sure you next year when you attend the event again, you will get way better results

Good showing and good competition to everybody who participated; as I can only imagine what kind of effort and focus it takes to prepare for an event like this.
Just wondering about the N1 motoring's brake system. While I understand that stock sized calipers/rotors/drums will never stop a K20A equipped Fit no matter what you do to it, could you elaborate on what was done to minimize your likelihood of going off track?
I'm going to presume, aggressive pads (what type?), fluid? lines?
I see a lot of Fit participants touting their "stock" brakes, but are they truly as offered from the showroom floor?
Maybe it's obvious to others that "duh....stock brakes means just calipers/rotors are stock" but I guess it means different things to different people.
Honda Challenge is good indication of where the potential of certain setups can be used as a reliable gauge. However, unlike Honda Challenge for others who do not know, Time Attack events are usually very lenient on set ups.
Meaning tire choice, weight, engine modifications, brakes, just several critical elements are often left "open" for both street and unlimited class.
I'm sure Ben just wanted to point out that the N1 car can easily do sub 2mins if prepped along the lines of the Spoon car, as you yourself pointed out.
N1 found out they were invited to run at the Time Attack last weekend at SEMA when they ran into the Super Street guys. Apparently the original invitation sent out about two weeks ago via. email went into the spam filter or something. So N1 were looking for a driver Monday afternoon (time attack was in 2 days on Wed so basically 1.5 day left to prepare) and found me. They are completely foreign to road racing (they are hard core drag racers before) and had no idea having brakes is extremely important. When I said stock brakes it means the brakes were 100% 2004 JDM Fit S. Stock pads, rotors, lines, fluids... etc. I wrote a blog about the event if anyone is interested at some of the issues we ran into. (for example at 10 am the car had 2" total toe in on the front end)
