Question What should I pay for a 2008 LX in Ontario?

I am leaning toward buying a 2008 Fit very soon. I would like to know if there is any consensus as to what discount is typical/best. I am looking to maximize my discount based on information from you smart Fit owners. I know someone here will tell me to pay whatever the dealer asks, since it is a great car, but I am looking for more objective information.

My offer so far from my local dealer is $16840 plus all the adders. That's only $540 off list.

prelude_guy97 will become famous soon enough
You're lucky to get a dealership to take some off the MSRP! I know here in NS...they are pretty stingy!

They may not budge much further since all Canadian MTs qualify for the $1000 Gov't rebate. Good luck though...im sure you'll enjoy the car!

I work for Honda and can tell you there's not much markup on a Fit. They probably won't give you a big discount - but try it!

I went ahead and purchased the '08 Fit at $16840.

The story I got was that that's the $500 over cost for family and friends, and that the employee discount is not even that good. But then, presumably they make commission from the sale to themself and it works out better.

I ordered it bone stock... they were unwilling to budge on reducing the price of the expensive accessories. So, once I get the car, it'll be off to Canadian Tire to get the floor mats, scotch guard, electronic rust inhibitor, etc.

Congrats on your purchase. I did some research on a site called www.redflagdeals.com and someone posted that the retail price for an 05 or 06 (can't remember) was around $17180 and the wholesale price was $16,149 - the numbers were obtained from CarCostCanada.

So, your number for $500 above cost seems about right as the MSRP for an 08 is a couple of hundred higher than the MSRP for 05/06.

BTW, can you PM the name of the salesperson and dealership that you dealt with? I think that I'm ready to pull the trigger and would like to get a similar deal.

Thanks!!

Replying to an old thread, but in case any other Ontarians were curious what Fits can sell for nowadays....

I just bought an bare, manual LX for $16670, or about $710 below MSRP.

Somewhat surprised, actually, considering they're flying out the doors (supposedly) due to rising gas prices. I wasn't promised my primary colour choice, though.
